Where has the week gone? Some of us are sweating over finals, some are figuring what to do with the kids now that school’s ending for the summer, some are looking at all the blockout dates springing up on passes with chagrin and others are jumping for joy as their local parks open for the season. One thing’s for certain, there’s always some news:

Our loved ones are still on the Disney Wonder up in Alaska. We’ve seen one or two stunning photos from Tracy Arm. A zillion thanks to the team holding down the fort while Dusty-them are away!

Disney in Concert: A Silly Symphony Celebration

Or, as it’s called in my house, “As if you needed a reason to go.” So, this is my husband Noe:

, Fab News: Silly Symphonies, Pleasure Piers and Little Red Reunions

He plays cello in the local orchestra. That’s the day his dream of playing “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” came true. It was so cool. He’s also played with Susan Egan, who was Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on Broadway and Megara in Disney’s animated film Hercules. Still on his list is playing a live version of “The Band Concert”. The next best thing will happen at the D23 Expo 2015,  however.

Do you remember when I talked about the Legacy Collection? The last one was the Disneyland one. There’s a Silly Symphonies one coming up, and you’ll be able to pre-order it there – and it’s a doozy. If you do, you will get a Lorelay Bove litho and oh my heart I love her work so much. So. So. Much. Also, I love Leonard Maltin, who is totally One Of Us Disney fans. He’s going to be our host for the afternoon. There are two shows on Sunday, 70 minutes each, at 11 am and 2 pm, and can I tell you something, just between the two of us? Noe’s half-dead after one performance, and these poor musicians and conductor are putting on two for us, so cheer loudly.

There is going to be, for the first time, a pop-up store on the show floor JUST for Disney music. This is HUGE and very, very welcome. Music has always been the lifeblood of Disney since “Turkey in the Straw” and Disney fans love its music with a passion. It’s great to see D23 so receptive to Disney fans’ wants and needs. By the way: there will also be a vinyl box set, for us purists. All 75, completely restored, eight plus hours of music, 16 vinyl LPs. Oh, my aching wallet. Worth it.

But What if You Aren’t?

If you aren’t, there’s only one reason: You’re at Tiki Oasis, to see MAN OR ASTRO-MAN?, The Phenomenauts, The Angel and Robot Show, King Kukulele, The Tikiyaki Orchestra, The Chocolate Watchband, or many more of the acts playing there. Or, maybe you’re there to hear about Pacific Ocean Park from Dominic Priori, or get a lecture from Charles Phoenix, or one Roland Fargo Crump, who was there last year and is rumored to be back this year.

The theme this year is “space”.

Kim and Joe and Little Red

When Alice was little, she called Kilimanjaro Safaris “Kim and Joe’s Safaris”, and I can’t get the name out of my head, ever. One of my pals, Chip, a former Jungle Cruise skipper, was opening cast, and through the years, everyone there has grown into a great big…huge family. Well, last year, they decided to try having their first family reunion and got together about fifty or so present and former KJ CM’s. They had such a great time, they want to do it again, and asked if I’d put out the call.

There’s going to be another Kilimanjaro Safaris Reunion October 22, 2016 at the Buena Vista Suites Hotel in Orlando. Here’s the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/KilimanjaroSafarisReunion Hope you can make it!

Next week: News about the magical glow box in your living room. Have a great weekend!
