Cinderella is now enchanting a beautiful new animated window display on Main Street, U.S.A. — the latest in Disneyland‘s new series of enchanted windows for the park’s 60th anniversary celebration. Meanwhile, that Diamond Celebration continues as the busy summer season is now in full swing. Refurbishment and enhancement projects continue in both parks while Disney California Adventure gears up to celebrate a couple new films hitting theaters this summer.

We’ve got a fun summertime update for you today, so let’s get started!
Welcome to Disneyland! |
Disneyland continues into the busy summer months with its Diamond Celebration in full swing. It’s been a particularly lovely time to visit the past couple weeks, with moderate temperatures and crowds being rather manageable for peak season.

Meanwhile, Disney California Adventure is also beautiful this time of year…
The Buena Vista Bugle has a special Diamond Celebration edition out
Minnie Mouse recently started making regular appearances on Buena Vista Street in her flapper girl outfit.

The big guide map at the Buena Vista Street information booth hasn’t been updated to reflect the change from Condor Flats to Grizzly Peak Airfield.
A Dream is a Window… |
On Main Street, the second of the Disneyland’s new “enchanted windows” has been unveiled. The new window features scenes from Cinderella and is beautifully crafted and comes to life with classic effects that harken back to early Disneyland.
Cinderella in her rags transforms with the help of classic Pepper’s Ghost effects combined with projections…
And as Cinderella’s dress transforms into her gown, the scene turns around showing her dancing at the ball with Prince Charming.
Below, a look at the new window in video:
In the Peter Pan window we showed you two weeks ago, the children now fly and projection effects showing the second star to the right and Never Never Land are now working.
Refurbishment Roundup |
Big refurbishment projects are still underway in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, along with the installation of an all-new ride at Luigi’s Flying Tires in Cars Land.
In Fantasyland, Peter Pan’s Flight remains closed until early July for enhancements
Nearby, the gift shop next to Pinocchio’s Daring Journey (most recently used for the Frozen meet-and-greet) is getting its Pinocchio-themed paint job back on the exterior. Will it reopen as a Pinocchio-themed gift shop?
At the entrance of Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters is once again offering FASTPASS service. Why you’d need a Fastpass for a fast-loading Omnimover is beyond me, but there it is. Also note the garish new colors on the Astro Blasters facade, which debuted earlier this spring.
Two of the Star Tours Fastpass machines are now being used for Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
In Tomorrowland, Innoventions continues to get some major work done but Disney has yet to officially announce what will open in the space.
Across from Innoventions, the TomorrowLanding shop, which originally opened alongside the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage in 2007, is now a MARVEL shop conveniently located next to the temporary outdoor Avengers photo-op.
The Submarine Voyage posters are still here
Over at Disney California Adventure, there’s not much progress to be see from the guest’s perspective on the replacement ride for Luigi’s Flying Tires.
Disney Cinema Adventure |
In California Adventure, Disney will be hosting a preview of MARVEL’s upcoming “Ant-Man” in the Bug’s Life Theater. “It’s Tough to be a Bug!” is closed starting today to prepare for the Ant-Man preview. The preview, which will be presented in 3D and feature in-theater effects, starts June 19 and will run through August 2. The sneak peek will also include an Ant-Man costume from the film on display.
Elsewhere in Disney California Adventure, the five emotions from Pixar’s “Inside Out” will be featured in a new pre-parade for the Pixar Play Parade starting June 19. “Inside Out” opens in theaters on June 19, but until then you can scoop up some new merchandise from the film at the parks.
In Downtown Disney, artist Dallas Clayton painted a 6×12-ft mural celebrating “Inside Out” on Friday. The mural will remain on display through June.
This & That |
Back on Main Street, the Center Street Flower Market has unfortunately disappeared again. It was beautiful while it lasted… hopefully it comes back.
