Disneyland is enjoying what’s left of its brief off-season between the end of summer and the start of the popular Halloween Time season. Guests should dial back their Halloween Time expectations this year as the on-going 60th Anniversary celebration will take priority with the Diamond Celebration decorations and entertainment running instead of traditional Halloween decorations and shows. Still, popular offerings including Haunted Mansion Holiday, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, and the Mickey Jack-O-Lantern in Town Square will all return by the upcoming start of Halloween Time.

We’ve got a quick off-season update for you today, so let’s get to it.
Welcome to Disneyland! |
Recent high temperatures in Orange County helped thin out off-season crowds even more than usual over the weekend. With temperatures climbing into the mid-90s with high humidity, it’s even more important than usual to stay hydrated and know your limits when visiting the parks during the hot summer months.
Temperatures are expected to drop to the low-80s later this week but if you plan on visiting this weekend, be sure to come prepared for heat and stay safe.
Some views around a very hot Disney California Adventure on Friday…
Creeping In… |
Halloween Time continued to creep in last week as Disneyland prepares to officially kick off the Halloween season on Friday, September 11.
Pre-packaged Halloween treats are now available…
In New Orleans Square, Jack Skellington is moving in at the Haunted Mansion for his annual stay. Haunted Mansion Holiday will officially open on Sept. 11 with the rest of the Halloween Time offerings.
In Tomorrowland, Space Mountain will be closed Sept. 7-10 to install the annual Ghost Galaxy overlay.
Refurbishment Round-up |
A look at refurbishment projects underway in both parks…
Work continues on the walkway between Fantasy Faire and Frontierland.
Some work underway in New Orleans Square
Nearby, the Le Bat en Rouge shop reopens on Friday following a brief refurbishment.
Pirates of the Caribbean will close September 14-29 for refurbishment
In Tomorrowland, work continues on the upcoming Star Wars Launch Bay and Super Hero HQ in the former Innoventions building.
Some work walls are up on Paradise Pier…
Work on Paradise Pier includes replacing all of the existing boardwalk with new wood. Looks great so far and is being done with minimal impact to guests.
In Paradise Park, some work is underway on some of the lights in the area…
Shame this interactive fountain was installed and is never used.
Still not much progress to be seen at the upcoming Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters
This & That |
On Main Street, the 20th Century Music Shop is carrying a re-issue of the classic “A Day at Disneyland” LP.
Yes, you can once again buy a classic Disneyland vinyl record inside the park! It’s a great title and worth picking up and dusting off your turntable for!
Also worth noting, the new edition of Jason Surrell’s Haunted Mansion book is available here as well
And the new “All Aboard!” book on Disney trains was available here a few days early. The book comes out tomorrow and you can get it on Amazon for over 30% off – a better deal than the best AP discount.
Back in Tomorrowland, a new themed popcorn cart has debuted and it looks great.
On Friday, the Rocketeer was still turning the popcorn…
…but by Sunday, a spacewoman had reportedly taken over. Below, a Tweet from our friend Guy Selga showing the new spacewoman.
Not sure when this popcorn cart popped up (is this thing on?), but I love it. pic.twitter.com/yDutjkch8h

We really love all of these themed popcorn carts Disneyland has been rolling out recently. They look great and help enhance their respective lands. Kudos to all of the folks behind this!
