We are ecstatic that Disneyland Paris Resort’s month long Halloween Celebration has begun!
The season has started with a lot of surprises. Despite the ongoing renovations taking place, Main Street USA has been decorated for the season.
In another surprising move, the ghosts of Main Street have descended from their previous perches on the buildings and have taken to the streets. We like this move and think that the ghosts will be seen by more guests. Unfortunately, some of the ghosts may lose a little bit of their personality removed from their previous context. It should also be noted that all of the ghosts have not yet been installed.
The decorations on Main Street USA and Central Plaza are again beautiful, as we have come to expect from the Halloween offerings over the last two years.
Mickey’s Halloween Celebration Parade
A good parade as always. We see some new costumes, but no new floats this year. We’re counting our blessings since other offerings have been downsized this year.
In the Castle forecourt, only Maleficent is available to meet with visitors for most of the day. It does help prevent congestion in this area.
On the castle stage, 6 Disney villains appear for a 30 minute meet and greet four times a day. And adding icing on the pumpkin, each meet and greet starts by having one of the villains arrive on stage and invite his friends by showing his power.

This year we lament the loss of one show: The Maleficent Disney Villains Promenade. And it’s not because the “new” decorations of the Castle Stage area have made a dent in the finances of Disney. Note that the thorny briars created for the castle decorations were previously a part of the structure of the dragon of thorny briars in the Court of the Castle. Yes, Disney deconstructed one set to create another. It is a choice.
The twisted thorny briars that were previously on the streetlights of Maleficient’s Court.
Mr. Jack is back for Halloween (he’ll be here for Christmas, too).
The entrance to the Cottonwood Creek Ranch area received a few pumpkins and décor recycled/modified for Mickey Mouse’s meet and greet. He has a new costume also. Don’t look for seasonal decorations at Frontierland Depot station, though, because Frozen Summer Fun is still there until mid-November, whereupon the icy decorations will likely be reused for Christmas – and then recycled into Frozen Fun decorations next year. Wash, rinse and repeat.
Overall, we’re disappointed in this Halloween season. There is a feeling that the budget has been revised downward with fewer activities, fewer decorations and the destruction of Maleficent’s Court to beautify a new area. We know it’s hard for the Disney creative teams who are forced to reinvent without a budget. But the guests are affected too! That being said, we are still enjoying this Halloween season.
In other news, the renovation of it’s a small world is proving that it’s not a small job.
Work is in progress for the facade of Fuente Del Oro. It’s amazing.
Joyeux Halloween!
Thank you for your death loyalty… Happy Halloween!
See ya real soon.
