Let’s head off the trail and see what’s wild at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We are hoping to see some of the changes around the park as it transforms for the 2017 opening of Avatar Land. Let’s see what we can find.
Welcome to Animal Kingdom!
You can see Pandora rising over the trees near the front entrance. Looks big from here.
Shop construction is still happening at the entrance to Discovery Island.
Let’s hope that all the new stuff has this level of amazing detail.
The pathway which leads towards Pandora is now completely blocked off. They’re doing their best at keeping the construction as secretive as possible.
Pizzafari is currently closed as well. It’s located just along the path to Avatar.
This wall is blocking the path that leads to the old Tree of Life trails. Perhaps they’ll be removing the nets and letting us walk through there again soon.
New DVC kiosk near Starbucks.
You can buy Flame Tree BBQ rub and sauce in the gift shops now.
It’s been a while since Zuri’s Sweets offered poop themed snacks. Does anyone miss them?
I’m anxious for these walls to come down and to experience the new Rivers of Light show.
A little bit of Rivers of Light work can be seen here.
Everest’s old FastPass station is still being redone (or shall we say “undone”?).
You can see Rivers of Light developments over the construction walls now.
I’m also watching to see how additions such as this one will impact the very authentic theme of Serka Zong.
Primeval Whirl is down for refurbishment.
More views of the Rivers of Light changes.
That’s a lot of seating.
Hopefully it all gets themed appropriately and doesn’t ruin the formerly wonderful view from Flame Tree BBQ of Everest.
Work is still happening on the far side of this gift shop in Discovery Island across from Flame Tree BBQ.
That’s it for this week!
That is going to wrap things up for this week’s column. Do you like the changes you see at this park? What’s on your Animal Kingdom wish list? Please let us know in the comments below. A sincere thanks for reading!
