Holidays return at Disneyland as Tomorrowland welcomes Star Wars Season of the Force
The holidays are here! From Main Street to Buena Vista Street, both parks are covered in Christmas lights and tinsel as favorite seasonal attractions including Jingle Cruise and ¡Viva Navidad! Return for their annual run this week. Meanwhile, the highly-anticipated Star Wars Season of the Force officially launches today after a weekend of media previews and mixed soft openings. Is Disney’s big rollout of Star Wars in the theme parks worth the hype? We take an early look from over the weekend and share our thoughts on some of the new offerings in today’s blog.

Universal Studios Hollywood: Kris Jenner, Grinchmas, and Harry Potter
Welcome to Universal Studios Hollywood, the entertainment capital of Los Angeles.  Halloween is over and Christmas is just beginning to trickle into the park.  You have to look carefully to find it but it’s there.  The stores have been stocked with cheery merchandise while the twinkling lights very subtly adorn the trim of many structures in the park now.  The next big thing to be hitting the park is, of course, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The Christmas Season has begun at the Happiest Place on Earth. And this year Tomorrowland has it’s own special holiday:  Season of the Force , with new character meet and greet locations, a new layover for Space Mountain, new scenes for Star Tours, new merchandise, and even a couple of the restaurants attempt to participate in this new season.  Somewhat overlooked (but still exiting for many fans)  Spiderman has made his official Disneyland debut appearance!  And of course,  lots of  Christmas decorations, from Toontown  to Radiator Springs,  from Pacific Wharf to New Orleans Square!  ~ Aladdin

Mousetalgia ushers in the Disney holiday season this week with a conversation with Emmy Award-winning writer and director Kevin Deters, who joins us to talk about his Prep and Landing television shows. Deters talks about the show’s characters and the other classic holiday television offerings that helped inspire Prep and Landing. Then, Jeff talks about a pair of talks from the Walt Disney Family Museum that hosted director Brad Bird and legendary animator Eric Goldberg. Bird spoke about Walt Disney’s “Tomorrowland,” and his optimism, innovation, and futurist way of seeing his world. Goldberg spoke about the four animators that inspired the Nine Old Men, which include Norm Ferguson, Ham Luske, Bill Tytla, and Fred Moore – and Jeff recaps both events. Finally, Mousetalgia welcomes Marvel Creative Director for Themed Entertainment Brian Crosby back to the show to talk about Marvel’s forthcoming Haunted Mansion comic book series, and to preview Marvel’s Super Hero HQ, which opens this week in Disneyland.
