Welcome to another exciting episode of the Disney Avenue Podcast. For our very first show of 2016, we are joined by R.J. and Suzanne Ogren who are two former Walt Disney World cast members. They are about to blow you away with some amazing stories from their incredible careers working at the vacation kingdom. R.J. painted Animatronic figures and “plussed” attractions. Suzanne drove monorails, marched in parades, and entertained as Sleepy the dwarf, among other things. Together, the Ogren’s brought their unique skills to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom during its formative years.
Mousetalgia! Dives into Disney history today by welcome Disney historian Joseph Titizian back to the show to talk about studying Disney. With the changes in media over the past few years, the line between enthusiast and historian has blurred, and Titizian shares his background and journey from fan to historian; discusses how Disney helps historians with libraries and archives; explores the history of Disney history books; and offers tips for aspiring historians to make their mark in the field of Disney history. Next, Mousetalgia welcomes Christopher Wing to the show to discuss his latest adventure. Wing recently took flight and made it to all the Disney theme parks around the world in eighty hours. Learn all about the logistics of scheduling flights, luggage, and connections; and relive the drama of near-misses and forgotten iPads. Plus – a WDW Dark Side 5K report; the triumphant return of Awkward Disney Moments – and more!
The Sweep Spot: In this episode we have the latest in Disneyland Resort current events. Our main segment features a former Disneyland Custodian, Robert Diaz. Robert worked with both Ken and I. He was a Lead, General Lead, Office Clerk, and worked in scheduling for Custodial. Disneyland Update – The Force Is Strong With This One
Spring Break is over and we are back to the off-season (or “Value Season” as Disney now calls it) at Disneyland. Unfortunately, that doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of crowds. High heat returned to the Disneyland Resort this weekend with temps pushing 90°. Food and Wine Festival continues to do well at California Adventure and the Silly Symphony Swings has vanished (but don’t worry, it will be back). Oh, and there’s a little construction project you may have heard of . . . Star Wars Land!
