Howdy pardners, we return to the farm, Knott’s Berry Farm that it, to check out the fully refurbished Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. There are also a few other bits of news from around the park for us to share as well. The new Calico Stage is under construction and the reopening of Ghostrider has been delayed.

The Park

Overall the park looks wonderful.  The Boysenberry Festival is long since gone and the park is preparing for another big party. Ghost Town’s 75th Anniversary kicks off May 27th, bringing with it a host of fun things to do.

The new Ghost Town stage is currently under construction.  The stage will be constructed to resemble an abandoned mine.

Ghostrider is currently down and enjoying a huge refurbishment.  So huge, that the project has been delayed. The new target for opening is June 12th.

One really cool thing that has happened is that the Pan for Gold attraction has been returned to this spot near the queue area for Ghostrider.

Okay that is awesome, but what is weird, is what was left in the former spot of Pan for Gold.  It’s nice that they put SOMETHING in this spot, but why a trail leading to nowhere?

Starbucks has now opened at the park exit.  The perfect location too.

Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant Reopens

After an extremely long refurbishment, Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant has begun serving customers once again.  While not officially open, the restaurant is getting back into the swing of things slowly but surely through daily soft openings.

The entrance to the restaurant could use a little more signage.

Inside the decor is warm and inviting. The restaurant features exposed wood textures and ranch style theming, with little touches of kitschy charm.  That’s not to say it’s retro.  Hardly. This is an updated look that has class along with nods to the park’s signature heritage.

There are some stretches of the restaurant that seem a little bare.  It looks like a set that hasn’t been dressed yet.  Maybe that is coming.

A spacious, clean farmhouse chic look.

A simple table centerpiece on each table would make things feel more complete.

The fixtures chosen are superb.

The cheese grater lights are my favorite.

Did we mention there is a brand new, fully stocked bar?

What Thyme is it? Sorry, I can’t help myself.  😉

In the back, where the big buffet room once stood, is this beautiful barn-like dining room.

This private room in the back is also nice.

That’s great, but how is the food?  We are happy to report that it’s as good as ever.  Not being a chicken-on-the-bone kinda guy, I opted for one of my favorite dishes, Chicken and Dumplings.  While I waited, staff brought out a fresh batch of those perfect Knott’s biscuits.  OMG I could have sat there all day and just ate biscuits and butter.

Taking a look at the menu we see things have been streamlined and, well, the prices have gone up.

Still, for the price, and the amount of food offered, this place is a real deal.  It’s the same delicious food, but from a fully upgraded kitchen, in a beautifully redesigned restaurant that pays homage to the heart of the park.

Chicken and Dumplings. I almost died it was so good.

There is also a brand new outdoor patio for alfresco dining during the upcoming summer months.

Overall, this is a wonderful update to the signature restaurant of the park. There are a few decorative enhancements they could still make: however, it is warm, inviting, and has that new restaurant smell. And the bar. don’t forget the bar.
