Universal Studios Hollywood is going full steam ahead into the summer months with three brand new attractions, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff, and The Walking Dead. Plus, this includes the entire Wizarding World that guests can explore in addition to other recent attractions such as Springfield U.S.A., Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Transformers The Ride 3D and Fast and Furious Supercharged. That’s a lot of big new things in a relatively short period of time. They are now turning their attention to three new food locations in CityWalk and a full renovation of the movie theaters. Let’s look at the progress happening in and around this park that never seems to stop evolving.
CityWalk
Coming to CityWalk are Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, Voodoo Donuts, and Dongpo Kitchen. There isn’t a whole lot visible from the exterior yet.
Voodoo Donuts is going in just below CityFood, right next to Yogurtland.
There’s plenty of demo work still happening at the cinemas.
Meanwhile, the brand new fountains are getting some TLC.
We now venture forth into the studios park.
The Walking Dead
The brand new attraction, The Walking Dead, has been doing quite well, opening with 30 minute waits at the start of the day. It’s a really scary attraction. But we watched guests of all ages exiting the attraction with big smiles on their faces.
Waterworld
We have also been noticing the fun character that appears out in the midway calling people into the Waterworld stunt spectacular. The water based stunt show that has outlived every other incarnation at that stadium, continues to pull in crowds.
Stage 28
More groundbreaking has been happening at the old stage 28 building site, next to Transformers, Still no official word yet on what this might be.
Studio Tour
We now look to the backlot and the projects there.
Also on the studio tour we see progress on the ship set that is coming together at Falls Lake. Could this be another Pirates movie?
And that just about wraps it up for this quickie update from Universal Studios Hollywood. We will see you next time, In the Parks.
