Founder of Garner Holt Productions in 1977, when he was still in high school.  Starting in his parents’ garage—with his mother acting as secretary!— to a giant production facility, studio and mock-up space where they operate today with the help of nearly a hundred talented employees.

In Garner’s own words, here’s a description of the company that he created at the age of 17.

“With a mission to inform, educate, and entertain, I believe our work and our creations have a lasting impact on our audience. This company is my main focus, my pride and joy, and, if I may brag a little, the most unique and talented group in the world. We’ve built nearly 500 Chuck E. Cheese animatronic shows for restaurants all over the planet. We were the first outside company to create an animatronic character for a classic Disney attraction–we now have more than 400 figures in Disney parks throughout the world. In our more than three decades of work, we’ve built more animatronics and other unusual and amazing creations than any organization on the planet.”

Hope will talk about her father, Friz Freleng, and his early work with Walt (in Kansas City and on “Steamboat Willie” and about his work running animation at Warner Brothers. She’ll also share some artwork and photos of Walt from the early days.Friz was born Isadore Freleng on August 21, 1906 in Kansas City, Missouri. With no formal training in drawing, his first job as an animator was with United Film Advancement Services in 1924 at the age of 17. The first work Friz is credited with was for Disney Studios where he worked as an animator on the “Alice” series in 1927.

Last week, after I put Fab News to bed, Disney released the teaser poster for Beauty and the Beast. What I thought was odd was the file name. BATB_appleposter. That’s clearly a rose. Maybe it was for Apple first? Anyway, here it is, in case you’ve been living in a dungeon under an enchanted castle for five days:
