Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is one of the best hard-ticketed events offered at the Magic Kingdom. In addition to the fantastic parade, the awesome fireworks shows and the gluttonous candy trails, there is a lot to see and do!

One of the great things about visiting a Disney theme park is discovering the hidden details that so many people miss. Especially when you’re a regular visitor. Some people will argue that you can only ride the Haunted Mansion so many times (even though it is the best ride at Walt Disney World) and you start to look for other things to do. During the Communicore Weekly Live Show weekend, I was able to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and I ran across something I had never seen…or heard before!

You’ve heard of the Dapper Dans, right?

What about the Cadaver Dans?

They call themselves the Undead Cowboys!

The Cadaver Dans are an off-shoot of the popular Dapper Dans that are always found on Main Street. The big difference is that the Cadaver Dans haunt Frontierland and look like they just rose from their collective graves.

The Cadaver Dans aren’t listed on the Mickey’s Not So Scary brochure but you can always ask at Ghost Relations at City Hall to learn when you’re performing. Usually, the Cadaver Dans do a 15-minute set of 4 to 5 spooky songs.

On my recent visit, several friends knew about the Cadaver Dans and were excited to see them. I love watching live entertainment in the parks, so we headed to Forntierland after exiting the Haunted Mansion. We found the Cadaver Dans in the breezeway next to the Country Bear Jamboree.

They performed several songs, including: Grim, Grinning Ghosts, the Headless Horseman from the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Tender Foot, and Happy Trails. Each set is about 15-minutes and does include some audience participation, if the audience is willing.

The Cadaver Dans perform Grim, Grinning Ghosts from 2008.

You can often find the Cadaver Dans in Frontierland at 7:30, pre-parade and a final set at 11:15. Make sure to stay, clap your hands and enjoy their performance. It’s all the little details that can make your vacation experience even better!

Wahoo by the Cadaver Dans from 2011 (this is a great video because you can see them so clearly).

One of the best things about the Cadaver Dans is that they’re exclusive to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Most everyone has seen the Dapper Dans on Main Street and once the Halloween season is over and Christmas rolls into the Magic Kingdom, the Dans put on their holiday finest and perform classic Christmas songs. The Dapper Dans’ Christmas sets are truly enjoyable; however, they tend to be very similar during the day and for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

I urge you to check out and enjoy the Cadaver Dans on your next visit to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Also, stop by Ghost Relations on your way out and tell them how fantastic the Cadaver Dans are!

The Cadaver Dans perform every joke in their repertoire 2012.

Thank you for shining a light on the Cadaver Dans. They really are a hidden gem of the event. Wish more people knew about them.

I saw them late one night and I was surprised that so many people just kept on walking! Of course, the guests might have been on a sugar rush from the candy trails.

That is fantastic, I wish we could get to California this year for Hollween but just not gonna happen! (cries!)

It makes one wonder if Disney has tried to bring this over to California, this show would work really well in the Halloween Jamboree in DL. :)

Thanks for the comment! This show is from the WDW version. I’ve heard from a few people that Disneyland has a version of the Cadaver Dans that float along the Rivers of America.
