In 1957, Don DeFore’s Silver Banjo Barbecue Restaurant opened in Frontierland and served barbecue sandwiches, chicken and ribs through 1961. Son Ron writes about it here, the source for several of these photos, but wouldn’t it be oh so much better to hear the stories about Growing Up in Disneyland from himself and his brother David, in person, while noshing on actual Silver Banjo Barbecue recipe lunch? Well, that’s exactly what will happen on February 20th!

Banjo Menu

We get to relive the delicious magic and enjoy a lunch with Don’s original recipes and hear stories from his sons Ron and David about their experiences growing up at Disneyland and working with Walt.

Special Guest Marcy Smothers, author of the new book, “Eat Like Walt” (due Fall 2017) will explore Disneyland’s food lore from Main Street, U.S.A. to Tomorrowland – including the original recipe for Don DeFore’s BBQ Sauce. You’ll be the envy of the neighborhood!

Plus, Margaret Kerry — the original model for Tinker Bell and the Disneyana Fan Club’s President’s Award recipient, will be signing and selling her book, “Tinker Bell Talks”.
