There’s a massive disturbance in the Force this week as plans for the first summer of Star Wars Land are beginning to leak out. We also take a look at the first Last Jedi merchandise hitting the shelves this month. And, of course, we bring you the latest photos of construction for Star Wars Land. But first, we have some horrible news.  (EDITORS NOTE: This article contains an April Fools prank, please read ALL the way through)

Star Wars Land Becomes An Additional Ticket Admission

, Star Wars Land News: Star Wars Upcharge?

Recently Disney has been having separate ticket “Events” such as Mickey’s Halloween Party, the Main Street Electrical Parade Premiere and the Tower Of Terror 13th Hour Party. Word is leaking out that when Star Wars Land opens Memorial Day Weekend in 2019, Disney may launch the “Summer Of Star Wars” at Disneyland and Disney World. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Star Wars Land will open to guests only with a separate ticket for the “event” priced at $95 per day. Tickets will be scanned at each of the three entrances to Star Wars Land using the MaxPass system coming online this summer. This would essentially make Star Wars Land an additional gate at the parks for the first three months that would not be covered by annual passes. That’s one way to address the crowding concerns and make a little money in the process. Let’s hope this isn’t the final plan.

Make Carrie A Legend

A couple weeks ago, we talked about honoring Carrie Fisher by making her a Disney Legend at this year’s D23.

, Star Wars Land News: Star Wars Upcharge? The Mousetalgia crew took on the topic on this week’s podcast. You can hear their thoughts here.

We want to get this campaign rolling. We’re using #makecarriealegendD23 to spread the word. If you think she deserves this honor, share your thoughts with the hashtag on social media. The Force is strong with this one!

Star Wars Land Construction

The time is quickly approaching when the Rivers Of America and the Disneyland Railroad will reopen. We can see the trees and rocks that will separate these from Star Wars Land coming into shape every week. Here’s a look at this weeks progress.

Let’s start with an areal shot of Disneyland’s Star Wars Land from Nearmap.

I’ll refer to the areas in the photos by the geographic location in the aerial photo and the future development in the interactive graphic. We’ll start in the north (where the Millennium Falcon attraction will be) and go clockwise through Star Wars Land.

This area is getting harder to see with the massive Battle Escape show building overshadowing the area.

But if we peek through, we can see some of the progress.

In the adjacent Northeastern section of Star Wars Land, a new berm will separate the atmosphere of Star Wars Land from the newly re-routed Disneyland Railroad. This area also includes the entrance from Fantasyland.

The other side of the berm is where the Disneyland Railroad will go into a tunnel before pulling into the ToonTown Station.

The Southeastern area is where the Fantasmic backstage will be along side the tunnel entrance to Star Wars Land from Frontierland.

On the other side of this area, what used to be the Big Thunder Trail is getting a lot of detail work done in preparation for its reopening.

The south section of Star Wars Land is where the Disneyland Railroad will pass on the outer wall of the river in front of a waterfall.  A walkway will snake from Critter Country around the Hungry Bear Restaurant and into Star Wars Land.
