Welcome back to the Disneyland Resort. The highly anticipated D23 Expo starts TODAY and you’ll find all your MiceChat pals, including Disney celebrities and legends, at our booth in the Collector’s Forum (Booths 712-718). On Monday we took a look at Disneyland and today we are going to finish our report as we explore Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney, and work occurring at the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. If you did not read my Disneyland article from earlier this week, please click HERE.
Disney California Adventure |
Buena Vista Street
Welcome to 1920’s Los Angeles on this hot, hot summer afternoon.
Oh Pixar Play Parade, we sure do love you, but has it come time for you to move to Yesterland…
Grizzly Peak
It’s been so hot lately. The PERFECT time to ride Grizzly River Run.
Disney is still shutting down Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at dusk daily to save a few bucks.
Paradise Pier
Inside Paradise Park, Disney has stopped setting up the Umbrellas in the park even though the temperature has been over 100 degrees. They have also been keeping the play fountains in the park turned off.
One of my new favorite snacks is the Cream Cheese Filled Pretzels from Bayside Brews (I also think they are also available at Pacific Wharf Distribution Co).
Elena of Avalor has recently returned to do Meet and Greats in the Paradise Gardens area. She’s very popular folks.
That’s a lot of Rust on Goofy’s Sky School.
Construction work continues under the Screamin’ track near Silly Symphony Swings
Over at Midway Mania, the inside Queue is still closed off behind construction walls. Cast members said that they are adding air conditioning instead of relying on the overhead fans.
Fastpass return stacks up at this attraction as well.
Pacific Wharf
Over at Lucky Fortune Cookery, Disney has changed the food portions slightly as they have changed from the Chinese food to go boxes to plastic bowls.
A little more rice and a few more pieces of meat but same portion on the veggies.
Cars Land
Over in Carsland Cruz Ramires can now be seen driving into town for photos opts.
Disney has added some Cars 3 inspired food items to both Cozy Cone and Flo’s.
Across the street, inside Flo’s, noticeable paint damage can be seen inside lobby up in the upper part of the dome.
Flo’s Cafe, for the movie promotion, added 2 Breakfast Burritos to the morning menu and Raspberry Vanilla Shake.
Inside Ramones, some of the Wonderground Art has driven into town.
Bug’s Land
On a Hot summer’s day let’s take a ride on park’s least thrilling ride. According to Miceage Article this week, this entire area may be threatened by Marvel Land. Enjoy these rides while you can because they could close as soon as this winter.
Hollywood Land
Guardian’s Tower has had mostly mild wait times all summer. I have not seen it over 90 minutes since the initial rush. Strange for a brand new attraction.
Work continues inside the Animation Building. Guests enter through opposite sides of the building at the Animation Academy and Turtle Talk.
Anna and Elsa have moved temporarily into Stage 17 which is still decorated for the Olaf’s Snow Fest. Can the girls just stay inside Stage 17? It’s perfect for them.
Speaking of Heroes, Groot, Black Widow, Spiderman, and Captain America Disney have added Gamora to the Meet and Great Lineup. She meets guests in front of the Guardians’ Marque in the evenings from 5pm to about 7:30.
At night on the Hollywood Backlot Stage, Disney has a DJ try to keep the night pumping . . . unfortunately, it just isn’t popular or very entertaining.
Downtown Disney |
Heading outside the park to Downtown Disney. . .
The 2018 Disney Parks Calendars are now available. These do sell quickly, so pick up yours next time you are in the parks.
Some new Merch has come to the resort.
Down the path a bit, Curl Surf has the JanSport Disney Backpacks.
Frozen Boutique in Downtown Disney should just become a Princess Shop. If there’s really a need for Frozen outfits, perhaps they should move it to Stage 17 at DCA along with the Anna and Elsa meet and greet.
Over at WonderGround, a few new items caught my eye.
Work continues on the upper roof of the Grand California
Work continues quickly on Splitsville as Disney is aiming for a Holiday opening this year. Hard to imagine it opening so quickly.
Mickey and Friends Structure |
Over at the parking structure, work has started on replacing all the tile floors at the structure. Rumors from the cast members indicate that there were quite a few slip and fall incidents on the old tiles which necessitated the fix. The floor is missing from Daisy and Mickey Levels and just started this week on Goofy Level. On Donald Level some tiles have been previously removed and replaced with brick.
