Welcome back to the Disneyland Resort. It’s the middle of summer, but Disneyland is still unveiling all sorts of exciting new stuff. Fantasmic! has returned, the train and river boats will reopen on the 29th, and the digital version of FASTPASS has at long last made its debut. We’ll take a look throughout the park, and fill you in on all the news!
(Our thanks and gratitude go to Dsny Debbie who shot and assembled most of today’s update with the help of Brian Pinsky and Photo Matt)
Disneyland’s digital version of FASTPASS has officially been added to the Disneyland App. It works just like the paper version of Fastpass, but comes at an additional fee (the introductory price is $10). However, instead of having to run all over the park collecting paper FASTPASS tickets, MaxPass allows you to use your phone.
At the moment, you can only get a MaxPass for attractions which already have FASTPASS installed. You can not currently book Fantasmic! or any of the other shows . . . yet.
River Attractions Set To Open On July 29
The Rivers of America has been reopening little by little. First the dam came down and the back of the river was refilled. Then Tom Sawyer Island returned. Then Fantasmic lit up the night with a highly updated show. Now the walls have come down near the canoes and Hungry Bear in preparation for the full return of all the river attractions on July 29th!
Fantasmic has returned to mostly positive reviews. Have you seen it yet? What do you think? Share your opinion in the comments section or in our forums.
Dusty posted an amazing video of the new Fantasmic from the Dream Suite balcony. It takes about a minute for the video to get going but give it a view. It's the first unobstructed wide shot we've seen.
Here are some of the food offerings you can find to celebrate the return of Fantasmic! Most are F! related, but some are just new and we wanted to share them with you.
The Smoking Lamp Is Out
Disneyland has extinguished the Rivers of America smoking section near the Rafts to Tom Sawyer Island. The nearest smoking section is on Big Thunder Trail. How do you feel about this change? Please comment below or in our forums.
Around the Park
That's all from Disneyland for this week. We're cooking up a DCA update for you as well. Please stay tuned and thanks for visiting. Until then . . .
