Hello, and welcome to Dateline Universal Orlando! This week, we’re at Islands of Adventure. There are a few surprises ahead . . . let’s take a look!

Welcome to Universal!

Love the Port of Entry.

Doctor Doom out meeting guests.
New Auntie Anne’s pretzel place right next to Spider-Man.
A new women’s Marvel boutique also opened where the old Oakley sunglasses store was.

Coming soon  to a Disney park near you!

Expanded stroller parking for Kong near the exit.

Heading into Hogsmeade.

Forbidden Journey has added Universal Express just like Escape from Gringotts, but I couldn’t find any signage for it.

Universal announced last week that in September, the Dragon Challenge will close to make way for a “highly themed, immersive coaster for the whole family”. This coaster will exist in the Harry Potter universe.

The Dragon Challenge coaster was fun as Dueling Dragons back in the day, but when they stopped dueling, they kind of lost their luster.

The coaster also takes up more space than all of the rest of Hogsmeade, so it is a perfect opportunity to put in a groundbreaking attraction.

The replacement opens in 2019, the same year Disney opens up Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge down the road.

Lost Continent is still beautiful, although much smaller than it used to be.

The Lorax walked over and wanted a photo.

Time to head out!

That does it for this week. Are you excited to see Dragon Challenge replaced? Curious about what the exact theme will be of the replacement? Make sure to let us know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
