Before I jump into this little bit of Star Wars News, I just want to remind you that we’re in the middle of the most fun thing to happen to Disneyland since the days of State Fair, Blast to the Past and Toy Story Funhouse – Pixar Fest! There are special foods, decorations, character meet and greets, you’re encouraged to Disneybound and even cosplay within reason; it’s a fantastic celebration of friendship and fun leading to the opening of Pixar Pier this summer and MiceChat has everything you need to know to make the most out of your time there:

PIXAR FEST

Disney’s summer celebration this year is Pixar Fest. It’s much bigger than previous events such as Summer of Heroes. This event involves two parades, an all-new fireworks show, a substantial amount of festival foods and merchandise, Pixar characters all over the place and some really good entertainment.

Filmmaker Victoria Mahoney Will Be First African-American Woman to Direct a Star Wars Film

, Star Wars News: Farewell John, Hello Baze and Chirrut?

Director Ava DuVernay on Tuesday shared the historic news on Twitter, posting a photo of Mahoney with Episode IX helmer J.J. Abrams. She’ll be Second-Unit Director on “Black Diamond”, code name for Episode IX. Neither Lucasfilm, Disney nor Mahoney tooted their own horn on this one.

“Happy to share this historic news. A black woman directing stories in a galaxy far, far away,” she tweeted.

Mahoney tweeted back, “Catt’s outta the bag,” and thanked DuVernay and Abrams.

“This one’s for the outliers, dreaming big–in small corners of the Earth. #MaytheForceBeWithYou,” she tweeted.

Progress on the Florida Falcon! (Spoilery!)

, Star Wars News: Farewell John, Hello Baze and Chirrut?
Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla., transporting guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life. Inside these authentic lands, guests will be able to step aboard The Millennium Falcon and actually pilot the fastest ship in the galaxy, steering the vessel through space, firing the laser cannons, in complete control of the experience. And with the arrival of the First Order to the planet, guests will find themselves in the middle of a tense battle between stormtroopers and Resistance fighters. (Disney Parks)

BlogMickey.com has some FAB photos of the Projection Cones at Hollywood Studios’ Millennium Falcon attraction. Spoilers! You have been warned!

John Williams to Retire from Star Wars films at end of Skywalker Saga

, Star Wars News: Farewell John, Hello Baze and Chirrut?

John Williams, who has scored every single film in the Skywalker Sage (that’s the core “Star Wars” films – the ones with the numbers on them – has decided to pass the torch on to other composers for the rest of the films in the franchise.

Not to worry, the man who brought us the Harry Potter score, E.T., Indiana Jones and so many more wonderful melodies has no plans to hang up his pencil or his baton anytime soon.

His music is instantly recognizable all over the world. May he continue to make music for years to come.

Solo Cards at Denny’s Have a Bonus at Target and More

, Star Wars News: Farewell John, Hello Baze and Chirrut?

I mentioned last time that Denny’s is selling packs of Topps Solo trading cards for $3 with purchase to benefit their No Kid Hungry program. When I got mine, I got some nice cards, but I also got 2 extras: a coupon for $1.00 off any Topps Solo:A Star Wars Story product at Target (they don’t have anything yet, I checked), and a discount code for Star Wars Authentics, their autograph store.

Thrawn Alliances Takes Us Somewhere We’re Already Going

, Star Wars News: Farewell John, Hello Baze and Chirrut?

Timothy Zahn’s long-awaited follow-up to Star Wars:Thrawn is coming out in May, and if you’re a Disney theme park fan, you might just want to read this to get a foot up on the lay of the land for Galaxy’s Edge next year; Batuu is featured in the book, I don’t know how much, but it is in there. So if you want to walk in knowing more than the rest of the tourists, this is a good first step. Also, Timothy Zahn is a great author and Thrawn a fascinating character. Wow, with this and Last Shot (my poor baby Ben Solo!) this is a REALLY GOOD time for Star Wars books!

Rumored Chirrut and Baze Netflix Series

, Star Wars News: Farewell John, Hello Baze and Chirrut? , Star Wars News: Farewell John, Hello Baze and Chirrut?

That’s pretty much it, right there. They are with the Force, and the Force is with WOULDN’T IT BE SO COOL?!?!? But, it’s just as much of a rumor as the one that says that someone’s gonna make a cameo at the end of Solo. Yep, Agent Coulter, alive and well. Hahaha, I love spoilers, but I’m not gonna RUIN everything!

Thanks for reading through all the news from around the galaxy! I’ll see you very, VERY soon!
