Pleasure Island (Including Adventurers Club) Set To Close

Categories: Disney World, Entertainment

Disney has announced that it plans to close six clubs at Walt Disney World's Pleasure Island (located in the middle of Downtown Disney) after September 27, 2008. [1] Raglan Road and merchandise locations will remain open but, BET SoundStage Club, Mannequins Dance Palace, 8Trax, Motion, Comedy Warehouse, and the Adventurer's Club will close. Pleasure Island was an early success but has been struggling to maintain its popularity in recent years. The bulk of the complaints from the internet community will likely revolve around the unique Adventurers Club, which gained a cult following due to its interactive theatricality, detailed interior design, and upbeat comedy. We'd love to hear your thoughts about the closure of your favorite clubs. We will also forward your comments regarding the Adventurers Club to concerned parties at the Disney company and in the media. Please share your memories of the Adventurers Club and why you'd like to see it remain open at the comments link below. Monday in the Parks: Win a Dream Home of your own, Iger a Lucky Man, and SoCal Park Updates

Categories: Disneyland, Entertainment, Monday In The Parks

What would you do with 27.7 million dollars? No, that isn't the amount of a Dream Prize at the Disney Parks, it is CEO Bob Iger's salary! Justified or not, that is a LOT of money. Perhaps Mr. Iger can afford to buy himself a Dream Home, if not, he should read David "Darkbeer" Micheal's latest update for information on how to win one. Looking for a spot to celebrate the Fourth of July - David has tips you should know. For your weekly fix of Southern California theme park news and information, CLICK HERE. Wall-E Reviewed, Dissected, and Judged - MiceChat Style

Categories: Disney Company News, Entertainment

The Wall-E reviews are starting to roll in. Will Pixar's winning streak continue? Is this movie another masterpiece for Lasseter and Co.? MiceChatter GhostHost2 loved Wall-E [1]: The two main characters (Wall-E and Eve) have very, very few words at their disposal, but they are some of the most likable and enthralling characters in film history. Stanton largely uses the magic of "Pure Cinema," which refers to films as a purely visual art to get the story across. The dialogue is very minimal and that is one of the reasons I love the film. It [is] something unique, something you don't see every summer. Wall-E is one of those rare movies that is one of a kind. It has elements of the satire of sci-fi films like Robocop and Blade Runner MiceChat partner, Chuck Oberleitner of O-Meon.com [2], thinks Wall-E may be the best film of the year: WALL•E, the ninth full-length, feature-animated film to come out of Pixar Animation Studios, is one of, if not the best, films of 2008. It’s a superb romantic comedy, a solid science fiction film, an action adventure fantasy, and, despite its directors frequent denials, a social and environmentally cautionary tale. Sue Kruse of MiceAge [3] had a different take on the film: If the future of 700 years from now is anything at all what it's like for humans in WALL•E, I'm mighty glad I won't be around to see it. Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate the film, it was entertaining and I can truthfully say I liked it, but .... I didn't, as I have with every Pixar film so far, love it. So what did you think? Love it? Hate it? Somewhere in between? That's what we are all about at MiceChat, opinions - and we'd love to hear yours! Read all about Wall-E, MiceChat's most anticipated movie of the year, vote in the poll, or write your own review HERE [4] [1] http://micechat.com/forums/showthread.php/wall_e_micechat_reviews-99078.html [2] http://www.o-meon.com/pages/reviews/2008/06-27_WALLE.htm [3] http://miceage.micechat.com/suekruse/sk062708a.htm [4] http://micechat.com/forums/showthread.php/wall_e_micechat_reviews-99078.html

Weekly Roundup: What’s New and Hot at the Disney Parks, Movies, TV, and Community

The Dream House and Midway Mania have both opened and there is no shortage of opinions (and photos) at MiceChat. The French Market is getting a new healthier menu. How to beat the heat at the parks. Is Wall-E the frontrunner to replace Honey I shrunk the Audience in Tomorrowland? Lot's of news about all kinds of things from the Sky Cabin getting stuck mid flight at Knotts to Tinkerbell getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Wall-E poster from ACME Archives Direct [1] Camp Rock had a record Disney Channel debut. Disneyland Dream Wedding pictures (much love to Anders and Sunnygirl). But perhaps the ultimate question of the week (in my best Barbara Wawa voice) if you were a Care Bear, which one would you be? WALL•E on the Real Life Brown Carpet, Sword in the Stone DVD Special Edition

The cute little animated robot WALL•E has made a real world debut. Walt Disney Imagineers have created a self contained version of the adorable cube of cuteness. Lucky for us, our good friend and partner Chuck Oberleitner of O-Meon.com [1] has video of WALL•E coming down the brown carpet for the first time. And if you are looking for a way to kill a hot summer evening, Sword in the Stone is back on DVD in a special edition. Chuck has a review that pretty much sums it up. In short, it is an average film which offers some beautiful animation and enough gems to keep the young ones watching. Chuck's Sword in the Stone review can be found HERE. Dateline Disneyland: Toy Story “Midway?” Mania Confusion, Dream Home Still Hasn’t Booted, and Win a Honda

Categories: Dateline Disneyland, Disney World, Disneyland

There is a lot of confusion in today's Dateline Disneyland thanks in part to Disneyland's marketing department. The signs for the new Toy Story ride are a mess of conflicting messages and information. Is it Toy Story MIDWAY Mania or is it Toy Story MANIA? Is it located at DISNEYLAND Resort (with the "Resort" in such tiny letters that you are sure to miss it) or Disney's California Adventure? The attraction is creating some confusion of its own with frequent, and often extended, downtime. The signature Mr. Potato Head barker animatronic which leads people to the line is also prone to frequent breakdown. On top of it all, lines for guests can reach up to two and a half hours in length for this fairly slow loading attraction. The good news is that the attraction is worth the wait for most guests. If you don't mind standing for hours in the heat and sun of the uncovered queue, you are rewarded with a fresh, fun, and interactive new ride. Across the esplanade in Disneyland is another small confusion. In spite of opening the new Innoventions Dream Home to the press on Monday and Tuesday of this week and the resulting coverage telling visitors about this new attraction, the actual Dream Home is not yet open to the public. The walls are down and you can see much of the "Home' from the second level of Innoventions, but the main attraction is still undergoing final touches. We doubt that very many guests will notice or care, but it is strange that Disney is heavily promoting the attraction in the park map even though it hasn't opened to the public. Andy Castro finishes up today's update with a fantastic roundup of changes, construction, and new merchandise in the parks, as well as letting you know how you could win a Disney vacation or new Honda Pilot. Don't miss today's great Dateline Disneyland HERE.
