If you’ve visited Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort over recent months, chances are you’ve learned that Hurricane Hanna’s is closed for refurbishment. The planned extensive refurbishment was from August 27, 2012 and re-opens today, January 22, 2013. During the closure, additional food & beverage offerings were added to the resort, including quick-service dining in Martha’s Vineyard. Over the past two days Hurricane Hanna’s has been conducting some special “testing” of not only their new kitchen, but also their new menu!
Since its original opening, the quick service food location has continued to grow and expand with a limited amount of space. With the popularity of the Disney Dining Plan, and the limited amount of quick service options within the Epcot Resort area, The Beach Club Marketplace was in need of an upgrade. Finally, Hurricane Hanna’s has made some adjustments to their quick service offerings.
These past two days, Hurricane Hanna’s has hosted some limited previews. Lucky for MiceChat, one of our readers sent us these photos, as well as some notes from the limited previews. Let’s take a look at what’s inside!
The previous menu included the Beaches Signature Angus Cheeseburger, hot dog, vegetable wrap, grilled chicken sandwich, and turkey sandwich. All items that appear to be similar have been modified and upgraded to the Chef’s liking. The new menu seems to offer more variety compared to other Walt Disney World quick service options, along with a focus on healthy choices.
- 1/3 Angus Cheeseburger – $9.69
- Hanna’s 1/3 lb Bacon Angus Cheeseburger – $10.39
- Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich with Four-Cheese Blend, Tomato, Avocado, and Arugula – $9.99
- Grilled Cheese and Smoked Bacon Sandwich with Vermont Cheddar, Apple Butter, and Blue Cheese – $9.99
- Lobster and Shrimp Roll on Parker House Blend with Citrus Mayonnaise – $10.99
- Chopped Field Greens Salad with Turkey, Blue Cheese, Craisins, and Orange Vinaigrette – $9.19
- Vegetarian Quinoa Wrap with Roasted Vegetables, Hummus, and Goat Cheese – $9.99
The signature Hurricane Hanna’s burger was really great. The steak sauce was a nice add-on which packs a lot of extra flavor.
This Grilled Chicken Breast appears to be really tasty; however, it left a lot to be desired. The avocado is cold and mushy, which made the sandwich less than desirable (at least during testing). The arugula has dressing (not mentioned in the menu listing) and was over-dressed. This sandwich shows some great potential and we hope will be fixed based upon early guest comments.
Hurricane Hanna’s also offers a few snack items, such as fruit, ice cream bars, hummus and vegetables, and gelato. There’s also a small selection of bottled drinks, a variety of fountain drinks on one side and on the other… well, that one has the alcoholic drinks!
The pool bar has been updated as well and features the standard Disney Pool menu, along with two unique signature drinks just for Hurricane Hanna’s. All drinks are served in plastic drink ware (due to being so near to the pool), including new wine glasses. Hurricane Hanna’s features some wines other than the typical quick service and pool bar Sutter Home variety. This is finally a great step in the right direction for wine drinkers.
From everything we’ve heard and seen thus far, we are impressed. Hurricane Hanna’s has really stepped up only their menu and pool bar. These are great steps in a positive direction giving guests at this Deluxe, DVC, and Convention Resort areas a high end quick service option. The style matches Disney’s Beach Club Resort and also looks familiar to the recent refurbishment of Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill is now open. What do you think about these changes?
