London is rising from the swamps of Florida.  Yes, there is more progress on Kings Cross and the Gringott’s coaster inside Universal Studios Florida’s new Harry Potter expansion.  But further still, Springfield’s additional storefronts, Moe’s, Krusty burger, and Android’s Dungeon, are all coming along nicely too. That’s not to mention the new details emerging on the exterior of the Transformers show building, the work on the new Shrek meet and greet, and changes being made to the stage inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

As the days and weeks pass, Universal Creative’s vision for the second phase of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is becoming more clear.  The expansions promise to be larger than you might expect.

The small building that was Sound Stage 44 has Transformed into the NEST Headquarters.

If you want to help decode and discuss the markings head on over to the forums, and join the conversation.

In the next few weeks, people will finally get to meet their favorite Ogre and talking Donkey again as the new meet and greet prepares to open.

Summer can’t come soon enough as we prepare for the addition of the Springfield USA area at Universal Orlando.  It is now becoming quite obvious that this area is becoming an expanded Springfield even though there has yet to be an official announcement.

The new stage that was set up to better accommodate the performers in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is undergoing more changes as they improve the themeing.

The are using a portable forest to obscure the work.

It pains us to report again on the sidewalks at Seuss Landing.  The new paint that the land received prior to the big Holiday season has been fading fast.  We really hope that they can find a permanent fix for the sidewalks in this amazing area, as they are really looking terrible.

Popeye’s has returned from refurbishment. The whole area seems bright, shiny and new.

Thankfully it has come time for Duddley Do-Right’s annual refurbishment.   We are excited to see this attraction receive some much needed TLC.  However, if ever there was an attraction with great unrealized potential, this is it. With all of the success of Harry Potter, it sure would be remarkable if some of the windfall made it’s way to Duddley Do-Right. With completed show scenes and theme, this would be a fantastic attraction.

Wait! There’s more!!!

    Great Update Eric

The Springfiled area is goimg to be the best opening this year. I visited USH with my parents this year, and we discussed in the queue fo the Simpson ride that they needed to have a a Springfield Land. With the success of Harry Potter, it would be great to drink a Duff Beer at Moe’s, eat a Krusty Burger at Krusty Burger (with Horse Meat, only Micechatters in the UK will understand this! LOL), buy Radioactive Man from Andriods Dungeon and buy a Squishee at the Kwik-E-Mart. Perhaps some exectives heard us talking, as it is going to look fantastic. Maybe in the future, with the success, they will build more of Springfield (Simpson’s House, Flanders’ House, Springfield Elementary, Springfield Retirement Castle, etc) It would be fantastic. Maybe, they could do it like the old Studio Tour at USO. I would definatly ride that.

Transformers is looking good, but i can’t wait to see what design they will put on the side of the building that faces the streets of the park.

Finally, Harry Potter 2.0 is huge!!! It looks like it will be a fantastic addition to the already fantastic resort.

Thanks Again Eric, your updates make e fel that I am in the park, witnessing all of the construction.

By the way, Trumpet, just so you know, the story about Burger King and the horse meat DID make the news here in the U.S., and, I’m assuming, the rest of the world.

    • Eric Davis

Yes sadly that Horse Meat story has captured the imagination of journalists over here in the US. So the joke is relevant here.

But I know that I cannot wait to eat at Krusty Burger and drink at Moe’s.

  • I really enjoy these Universal updates. There are so many projects to follow! Hard to believe that the relatively small Uni resort has so much more going on than the huge Disney resort. Aside from the Seven Dwarfs coaster, is there any major construction at Disney right now?

And thanks for the podcast Eric. You guys seemed to have a great time at Mardi Gras and scored some fun interviews.

    • Eric Davis

It is crazy to think that Universal Orlando has A LOT more projects than WDW! If you would have told people 5 years ago that this would be the case, people would have laughed at you! How times change!

      • almandot

And number of Universal projects vs number of current WDW projects aside, the speed at which these major universal projects have been completed versus how long Disney pushed piles of dirt around to get new fantasyland off the ground.

I’m very eager to eat a Krusty Burger, but as my wife reminded me, when will we get to try a Krabby Patty!

  • Gregg Condon

Fantastic update. Things are moving so quickly at Universal. Guess that’s what happens when you actually invest in your parks.

  • Amy VandenBoogert

I love that WANTED sign for Snidely Whiplash. “Illegal transportation involving a bear.” “Lying to a beaver.” *dies laughing*

    Thanks for the update, Eric!

  • MickeyFickey

They must have used REALLY cheap paint over in Seuss Landing. I can’t explain it otherwise…they did everything “right” from what I know about painting, including sandblasting the old paint away. My hope is that they do it again, and this time, they make sure it’s done right!

    Great updates, and great podcast!
