    Thanks for the update!

Spaceship Earth is surrounded by boring ugliness that detracts from its bottom half. Many buildings have great tops, but the symmetrical bottom-half of this ball halps make the whole thing extraordinary. It should be orbited by flowers that contrast with its size and don’t block it at all.

Does anyone know when the new Morocco restaurant will open?

The Parks Blog has said “end of the year” so I’d imagine probably October or later.

Lovely photos and update as usual! We appreciate your weekly column so much!

Loving the Tiki merch, especially the Shag prints. Have you happened to see this stuff (incl Shag prints) at MK? I will be at MK for a short time next month, and I would love to score a print to add to my collection.

    • Cory Disbrow

Yes, they have the Tiki merchandise at all of the Art of Disney stores on property, including the one inside the Main Street Cinema at MK.

Your pictures are amazing! Even the picture of the Epcot entrance and the grave stone memorials to those who have gone before look better than I have even seen it.

The Tiki items are nice, but WAY over priced. Disney is just trying to soak people as usual. They are shameless in that this year.

For $85, Disneyland Tiki fans could attend a special merchandise event to buy exclusive Tiki inspired items. Looks like everything but the pins are now available everywhere. I wonder how the folks who paid top dollar for the event feel about that? And I wonder if Disney got the message that these beautiful items didn’t sell out, not because they weren’t wanted, but because they were terribly overpriced!

I wonder how much the Tiki Room coasters cost in the parks? I just looked up them on up online and someone is selling them on eBay for $49.99 …. that’s just crazy! Neat stuff, but I agree they are a bit of a swindle.

Looks like it was a beautiful day in the park. Thanks for these photos – I especially love the ones of Spaceship Earth contrasting with that gorgeous azure sky. I am guessing that all of the “under construction” spots will still be that way when we arrive next month ….we are at 38 days and counting until our trip!!!

“Sounds Like Summer is going on, this week had a tribute to Lynard Skynard.”

I’ll be you $20 there was someone in the back yelling “FREEBIRD!” ;)

  • Tielo

Wow, the biggest theme park in the world has a tribute to Lynard Skynard cover band while a few years back we had the pleasure to see the real deal with our admission of Universal Studios Orlando. It was really crowded but had a wonderful atmosphere and it was a great concert. Sorry Disney but this is sad in so many ways.

Thanks for the terrific Epcot update Cory. Gorgeous pictures as always.

World Showcase is certainly the current Jewel of Epcot, it looks terrific. It is a real shame that there has been no new countries join WS in a quarter of a century. Tragic. There are almost endless cultures that could join, and so much vacant space (at least 8-10) ‘vacant’ plots they could use. Future World looks a bit sad and a jumbled mess.

My husband went to Epcot when he was a boy, and when I tell him about it now, he’s shocked there is less there now than when he went growing up.
Until next time, have a great week! -Q.

“I wonder how the folks who paid top dollar for the event feel about that?” the items you are seeing at the disney gallery and out at WDW are all *open edition* items. all of the limited edition stuff (such as shag’s serigraphs, which are only done in runs of a hundred or two—and command extremely high prices in the art gallery world) sold out at the event. and the event was the only place to procure them.

as for me, the tickets price was worth the awesome goodie bag you got, as well as getting tipsy with bob gurr!

Thanks for the pics of my favorite Disney park. I plan on retiring there in a few years and driving boats around property, including across the beautiful World Showcase Lagoon!

  • TRONAlex

    Great report-as usual.
Any new news about the Imagination Pavillion?
It’s just sad how that was the crown jewal of Futureworld, and now it’s overlooked.
    Really sad… :(

    Great story.
Any new news on the Imagination Pavillion?
At one time, the Imagination Pavillion was the Crown Jewel of Futureworld.
Now, it’s overlooked. Really sad :(
