Universal Studios Hollywood Adds New Props And Details

Universal Studios Hollywood has officially transformed with a mega budget attraction now packing in the guests on the lower lot. But that’s not all that’s transforming, we’ll also show you some new props on the upper lot and a set for a new TV show being built in the backlot.
We also have a brand new look for our weekly In The Parks column. Rather than bringing you one big long article every week, we are going to be delivering lots of smaller stories which are easier for you to read and share on mobile devices and to your favorite social networks. We’ll still bring you the same amount of content we always have, it will just be much easier to find and share than ever before. We hope you enjoy!

CITYWALK:

On certain days, The Tonight Show films segments at CityWalk.
THE UPPER LOT:
The Universal Trading Company has closed and walled off. The location is now home to a giant park map.

 

The long closed former Chase Credit Center has reopened as a new retail spot called Feature Presentation. The location currently sells Transformers merch.

 

 

 

The unthemed wall separating the old Wild West Arena and Western Street has received a “Property Department” theme. The entire length of the wall is full of various props, set pieces and pieces of facades.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One of these things is not like the others. If you wait long enough, he’ll scare the heck out of you.

 

 New photo op near the Shrek building

 New props, facades and window displays on Baker Street.

 

 

Various props around the park now have plaques near them telling you where it came from.

 

 

STUDIO TOUR:

The mural at the entrance to the Studio Tour has been replaced. It pays homage to 100 years of Universal Cinema!

 

One of the fire stations in the Metropolitan Sets is getting an interior

 

Some much needed TLC is being done in Old Mexico near the flash flood portion of the street

 

The back side of the iconic Chicken Ranch set is being transformed into the facade of the new NBC show, “Mockingbird Lane”. “Mockingbird Lane” is a drama based on the classic TV show, “The Munsters”. Sounds interesting doesn’t it?!

 

 

 

 

 

LOWER LOT

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee (full body stilt characters) are out daily for photos with guests.

 

 They look fantastic and are VERY popular with the guests

 

The Recharging Station, the dedicated home of Energon, is now open. The orange cremesicle favored beverage is sold for $9.99 and includes a souvenir cup that lights up.

    I am happy to see that Universal has addressed that strange, barren area in the center of the park. It’s a stop gap measure, but it works.

    I’m glad to see Uni theme that awkward area as a prop shop. Looks good. Also interested too hear more about that Munsters inspired TV show! Thank you for the Uni update Fievel.

    This is awesome! I think the Property Dept is a clever theme that helps create a real working studio feel.

    I like the Prop Dept theme and I’m glad that there’s plaques for the props. Also, I think I’ll go for the Energon Beverage too, when I get there.

    I don’t like the parks being in separate sections. I like it all in one big update.

      I agree…one big update is so much easier for me. This is going to take some getting used to.
