UPDATED: This amazing event just keeps getting better. In addition to the wonderful names listed below, the LIBERTY VOICES featuring singers from THE VOICES OF LIBERTY show at Disneyland will be performing in this amazing line up of Disney and Broadway stars!
Previous performances have included Jo Ann Worley (Beauty & The Beast, Laugh-In, and more), Todd Sherry (Disney’s Suite Life On Deck, more), Daisy Eagan (Tony Winner), Nicole Parker (MAD TV), Eric Peterson & Lisa Maria Morabito (Kirstie Aley’s New Show), and you never know who might show up!
We’ve been able to obtain a few secrets about the show which are quite exciting. You can expect to hear songs from HERCULES, THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, LION KING and MARY POPPINS….plus the performance of an Oscar nominated song, written by an Oscar winning composer, from a Disney Oscar nominated movie, by the performer who sang it in the film (but that’s all I can tell you)!!!!
This event is nearly sold out, get your tickets today HERE for just $10.
Long time MiceChat readers will know that we talk about Disney celebrities all the time. Every once in a while we give you an opportunity to meet them as well. But rarely do we get to see them in their natural habitat (am I making them sound too much like zoo animals?). I’m about to share some information with you that may make you feel like a Hollywood insider. Read on folks, you can thank me later . . .
Recently, I met Michael-Leon Wooley (the voice of Louis the Alligator from Princess and the Frog). He has recently moved to Los Angeles from New York City, where he and many of his friends were Broadway stars. The New York and Los Angeles scene are very different, and in some ways, the LA area just isn’t as hospitable for theatre folk.
To fill the void, Michael and a few of his fellow Broadway transplants have been getting together every now and then to put on a cabaret-type evening at different clubs in town. It may sound like a lot of work, but as Michael explained, “We don’t get to flex those stage muscles that often, so it gives us a chance to dust off our pipes and it’s a hell of a lot of fun.” The show is called STANDING ROOM ONLY and has become a bit of a cult hit. Generally, they perform an eclectic selection of songs with snappy patter and accompaniments; however, the next performance will showcase the music of Disney!
Disney . . . hmmmmm. . . well, I just happen to know about 100,000 folks in the Los Angeles area who might just want to know about a show filled with Broadway caliber performers singing Disney. So, I asked if it would be OK if the MiceChat readers crashed Micheal’s Hollywood shindig. He was thrilled to have the Disney fans attend the event. Keep reading folks, your opportunity is coming right up.
The show will feature popular and well known songs from Disney movies and musicals, performed by both Disney Performers and some of the brightest and best of Broadway, TV & Film!
the show is hosted by Michael-Leon Wooley and Kate Pazacis. While the list of celebrities is fluid and might still change, here are the folks who have indicated that they’ll be performing:
- Kate Pazacis – (Broadway’s SOUTH PACIFIC)
- Michael-Leon Wooley – (THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, the voice of the man-eating plant in the Broadway production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS)
- Jim Cummings – (THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, WINNIE THE POOH, JUNGLE BOOK)
- Carla Renata – (Broadway’s LION KING),
- Adam-Jon Fiorentino – (Broadway’s MARY POPPINS),
- Chandra Lee Shwartz (Broadway’s WICKED & GYPSY)
- Delisco James (Broadway’s SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE)
- Michelle Loucadoux ( Broadway’s THE LITTLE MERMAID, ANYTHING GOES)
- Jonathon Grant ( LION KING)
- Lisa Marie Morabito (MAMMA MIA, Las Vegas)
- Kathy Dietch (Broadway’s WICKED & FOOTLOOSE)
- Andreas Beckett ( TV’s THE NEW ARSINEO HALL SHOW)
- Eric Peterson (Shrek in the National touring production of the SHREK MUSICAL, TV’s Kirstie’s New Show)
This is one of those shows where you just don’t know who might show up. Jo Anne Worley was in the audience at a recent performance and actually took the stage to belt out a number of her own!
The show will be held in the beautiful night club, RAIN, in Studio City, which will be transformed into a supperclub for the evening. Chef Rafe Sahin from the restaurant, Aldente, will create a special menu to add to the evening’s festivities.
Here’s the show information:
- Date: MONDAY, SEPT 9th
- Time: 8PM for the concert and dinner starting at 7pm
- Address: Club Rain
12215 Ventura BlvdStudio City, CA 91604
- Cost: $10 online or $15 at the door (if there are spots available)
- Tickets: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/447506
At just 10 bucks this event is a steal. Yes, I realize it’s a Monday night . . . but an opportunity like this doesn’t come around very often. There are some spots available at tables (get there early for dinner), and additional standing room space for a total of less than 200 spots. In other words, get your tickets now folks.
The performers and audience members hang out after the show, chatting and enjoying the company of fellow theater lovers. Just a tip: you might actually want to take a standing room spot rather than a table so you’ll have a better opportunity to socialize and meet more of the performers.
It’s times like these that I feel sorry for all the folks who don’t live in LA. Mind you, that I don’t say that very often. If you love Disney and/or musical theater, join Fishbulb and myself for an evening of fun in Studio City on September 9th. We hope to see you there!
