MiceAge Disneyland Update: Down The Rabbit Hole
The Disneyland Resort made it through another busy Halloween season that kicked off with the new Disability Access Service, and they’re barely taking a breath before jumping into the even busier Christmas season ahead. Bob Iger’s comment last week that “Disneyland Resort delivered record attendance in revenue and profitability” for the just ended Fiscal Year 2013 sums up how happy the Burbank masters are with Disneyland and its executives. There’s a few new things in store for Anaheim this holiday season, but the bigger story is the aggressive refurbishment schedule both parks will embark on just after the holidays in January. In this update we’ll fill you in on what to expect for the holidays, how TDA will be tweaking its new Disability Access Service for its guests and playing the Grinch with its Cast Members, and what attractions will be closed this winter and the surprising reasons why.
Toy Story Mania Queue Enhancements
Something new appeared in the Toy Story Mania line a couple of weeks ago. It was a videoscreen disguised as an oversized Etch-a-Sketch, displaying occasional hints about the ride but mostly offering quick puzzles and quizzes about the Toy Story movies. It’s a fabulous addition to the queue, but in many ways it’s also a perplexing one. Why now? Why spend the money to create enhancements for a ride’s QUEUE (not the ride itself) long after the ride had its debut? The mystery only deepens when you realize this is not the only place it’s happening.
The holidays arrive at Disneyland with new offerings and returning favorites
Welcome back to Dateline Disneyland and happy Veteran’s Day! The holidays at Disneyland are now in full swing with the weekend acting as a soft-launch of Christmastime at the Resort, which is officially set to begin Tuesday, November 12. This weekend brought just about all of Disneyland’s holiday offerings a few days early for the Veteran’s Day holiday weekend, including new offerings such as the Jingle Cruise as well as returning favorites like “it’s a small world” Holiday. In addition to its nearly-complete holiday line-up, Disneyland also filmed its portions of the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade over the weekend with celebrity appearances and live filming on Main Street, U.S.A.
Smellitzers on Main Street: Candy Palace & Candy Kitchen
Here is a quick tip, when you are walking down Main Street USA: Stop at the photo of the Candy Kitchen Cast Members hard at work. Under the window is a vent that sends the wonderful candy aromas out onto Main Street.
Disneyland Anaheim began this holiday season on a sad note, Disneyland is getting rid of Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. Disneyland also filmed several musical guests, and part of the Christmas Parade over the Veteran’s Day Holiday weekend. A talking snowman has been seen in Fantasyland! The Candy Cane schedule has been announced for this holiday season. And reviews of the Jingle Cruise are coming in, and well, the good news is that it’s not as bad as a voyage on the Titanic. ~ Aladdin
Jingle Cruise Reviews
Disneyland’s latest Christmas attraction makeover was introduced this week, and sadly reviews are mediocre at best for the Jingle Cruise. Nothing really new was added in this makeover, except a few Christmas jokes and a lite dusting of decoration in the queue. And for one of Disneyland’s greatest attractions, they really should have had a LOT more fun with this holiday transformation. Take a look here, and give us your opinion of the Christmas Cruise!
2013 Candy Canes at Disneyland
It’s Candy Cane time at the Disneyland resort, again, and this time the schedule has been announced, well in advance! Take a look here to see what days you will be able to view the candy cane being made on Main Street USA and Buena Vista Street!

Is Disney letting WDW stagnate so they can revive it for the 2021 50th Anniversary?
We all know the story of Disneyland’s dark days before the overhaul of management and sprucing up of the resort for its 50th. Is the same thing currently happening at Walt Disney World? Think about it and post your thoughts.
