Summer has only just begun at the Universal Orlando resort and already, we can spy the first signs of construction for Halloween Horror Nights this Fall. We’ve also spotted some changes to the Lagoon show projector casings and we discuss the runaway success of the parade show stops. Finally, we’ll take a look at the Amity construction and ponder what is on the way.
HOLLYWOOD DRIVE IN MINI GOLF
Out in CityWalk, the iconic flying saucer that is part of the Hollywood Drive In Mini Golf course is under refurbishment already. The course only opened in March of this year and they are already having to perform maintenance work.
CITYWALK PROMENADE
Construction continues on the other landing platform for the CityWalk Promenade, and drinks are now being served at the completed location.
VICTORIOUS FILMING AT CITYWALK
The hit Tween band Victorious was at Universal Studios Orlando to kick off the Summer Concert Series, and with that they did some promotional filming in CityWalk, and did a fan Q&A at the Animal Actors stage before their concert. It was a good day to be a Tween at Universal Studios!
LAGOON SHOW IMPROVEMENTS:
In the studios park, we’ve spotted more improvements on the new nightly lagoon show. More themed projector covers have appeared in the lagoon over the past week. Each covering seems to fit the theme to the part of the lagoon that it is located in. While they look a little clunky, they are better than their unthemed alternative.
The ugly projector boxes are getting some themed enclosures.
They really do look a lot better.
PARADE A SMASH SUCCESS
The runaway hit of the summer so far are the twice daily show stops of the Super Star Parade Floats. Massive crowds are enjoying this form of street entertainment, and children seem thrilled to get a chance to get close to their favorite minion, or character. It seems Universal has hit this one out of the park!
HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS CONSTRUCTION
Over at the Disaster extended queue, construction for the world’s greatest Halloween event has kicked off construction for this next year’s haunted houses! Let the Halloween Horror Nights speculation begin!
AMITY CONSTRUCTION
Over at Amity, the lagoon is being drained as land is prepped for the future attractions that will go in this area.
