This Animatronic Life: The Great Gurrini

This time around, he focuses on his association with the amazing Bob Gurr, the legendary Disney Imagineer behind the Monorails, Autopia, Matterhorn and some major Garner Holt designs as well.

DCA Attendance Update – From today’s MiceAge Editors Note:
After DCA broke attendance records twice over the weekend with 45,000+ visitors per day, they broke the records again on Tuesday with 53,000 visitors at DCA. The suits are smiling as Disneyland held its own with 47,000 visitors on Tuesday. And yes, DCA is now getting more visitors per day than Disneyland. Thrilling the Anaheim team even more is the fact that DCA felt busy with a once unthinkable 53K, but that the overall park vibe was upbeat and had manageable wait times outside of Cars Land. | The Pixar Cars Toon short Time Travel Mater is now on sale online for 1.99 at Amazon.com and iTunes. It tells the story of how Cars Land’s town of Radiator Springs came to be. – Al Lutz

Disneyland Park

The Matterhorn is once again sending guests down its icy slopes.  Goofy shows us How to Conduct a Water Concert, a brand new Walt and Mickey statue has become an instant icon for the new DCA, Buena Vista Street and the formerly quiet town of Radiator Springs have been welcoming record crowds to DCA.  Even the Disney Villains have come out to celebrate the new DCA! ~ Aladdin

DannyB was in Radiator Springs on Media Day, and brings back some wonderful photos!

Ever since the huge investment for the World of Color fountains, and even since the Day DCA opened, Paradise Pond has desperately needed some sort of activity on the water during the day. This week, Goofy orchestrates some magic on the water, and turns the area into a Series of Live Goofy Short Cartoons! This serves as wonderful afternoon appetizer, for the World of Color Show later in the evening. Disney Analyst has the video

Want to know something unusual about some new kid’s entertainment in DCA? It has the largest gathering of Disney Villains in the entire resort! Perhaps even larger than Halloweentime! SoCalbma has the photos and the video! Can a whole new Villain Land be much further behind?

fantasmiceddied24 shows us what DCA looks like after the sun goes down! Amazing video a must see!

mre200200 has this report from Radiator Springs and Main Street USA!

Harold now has his meet and greet, also known as the Matterhorn, open again! Unfortunately, no more lap seating is available, and also, sadly gone is the roomy feeling of a riding a real bobsled. Walt Fan opens the topic for us.

A brand new statue of Walt and Mickey was designed for DCA’s Do-Over. This week the statue was unveiled and has become an instant icon for Buena Vista Street and all of DCA. It also helps set the mood for DCA’s new entry!

Dateline Walt Disney World

Hello, and welcome to Dateline Disney World! we have so much to share this week that we’ve had to break the column into two parts. In this part of our coverage this week, we will include everything not named “Magic Kingdom”. We have some Epcot news and a look at the new Highland Games meet and greet, a quick word from Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and some construction over at the Grand Floridian.

Orlando Parkhopper

We breeze through SeaWorld Orlando this week for a splash of news from around the park. The Happy Harbor area is behind walls for construction. Meanwhile, Antarctica: Empire opt the penguin, is going vertical. Finally, we see a new parade in the park, but this one wasn’t planned by entertainment.

The holy trinity of a great Disney World vacation is the perfect combination of mild weather, low crowds, and discounts. It can be difficult to get all three: Let’s face it, Orlando is really hot at least five months out of the year, so you’re fighting a pretty big battle with the weather as it is. But you can get close. Here’s how you can determine the best time to visit Walt Disney World.

The 626
It’s just after Thanksgiving of 2010, and I’m sitting in my car in front of Wal-Mart. It’s 6:54 in the morning, and I have to be at work at 7:15. The first thing that comes to mind is probably: “After Thanksgiving? It must be Black Friday!” But in fact, Black Friday was almost a week before. Those great deals have long passed. So why exactly am I staking out my local Wally Mart, risking being late for work, waiting for it to open its doors? Because on that day, November 30th, 2010, Epic Mickey would finally be released.

  1. I was editor of the very first MiceChat Round Up in 2005. It took me hours and hours to assemble everything. Eventually, Mamabot started helping me with the Round Up and took over as Editor. Later we added the Mice Ears Crew to assemble the sections and Fishbulb became an Editor. Today, Anthony is steering the ship and the Round Up has never looked better!

My deepest thanks to the entire crew for all your hard work to bring us this column every single week!

  3. I like Flo’s Cafe for breakfast. It’s got quite the view of Radiator Springs. The tamale breakfast was bueno.

  4. OK DCA. I think it’s time for a Muppet Land. Base it on the original DL muppet invasion idea. Keep/upgrade Muppet 3D and build a little city street back there that has been overrun by muppets. Dig up the back-burner Muppets Movie Ride and replace Monsters Inc. On the street I want to see real muppets in the upper windows, operated by cast members, shouting at each other and performing musical numbers flash mob style. I want to eat at a restaurant with a fake kitchen set up where Rizzo and his fellow rats appear to be making food for me. I want to sit in the decrepit lobby of the Happiness Hotel and watch old Muppet Show highlights on a reel. I want to see Fraggles peeking out from the storm drains. I want an animatronic Rowlf the Dog busking in the street, and the Electric Mayhem Band performing an hourly show from the back of an old pickup truck. I want to see Gonzo riding a zip line from one window to another. And I want to meet Miss Piggy before I die. Unleash the Muppets already!
