      Unlike Southern Missouri (think Branson), Northern Missouri is not known as a tourist destination. U.S. 36, the east-west highway in Northern Missouri, is now a four-lane divided highway with no traffic signals. It’s as fast as an Interstate, but there are a number of historical attractions along the way, including Walt Disney’s Marceline and Mark Twain’s Hannibal. In Illinois, U.S. 36 (aka Interstate-74) goes to Springfield, home of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, a museum that uses Disney-like storytelling.

    We made another visit to Marceline last week (during our Spring Break). Though I’ll have to catch the museum another time, the rest of the city and sites are worth the day-trip.
