We’ve got some good news for you today about a new nighttime parade for Disneyland’s 60th.

It looks like Disneyland will be getting a new night parade for the 60th after all. When the MyMagic+ cost overruns at Disney World forced the Orlando execs to ring the alarm bell last fall and confess to Burbank that things weren’t going as planned, a spending freeze forced most Disneyland projects to be put on hold or be cancelled outright. Included in that spending freeze were all the big plans for Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary that begins next spring. But TDA has been working on loosening Burbank’s purse strings (while Disney World remains mostly in the dog house), and one of the latest successes has been a modest amount of money poured back into Anaheim’s 60th Anniversary budget.

A new night parade for Disneyland recently got the green light and will be included in the 60th menu of offerings. Steve Davison (the man behind so many of Disney’s popular nighttime spectaculars) and his team will be working furiously to pull it all together. While the parade won’t have the same budget and grand scale that it was originally planned for a year ago, at least Disneyland will now have more to market for the 60th than just a décor package and the Christmas star returning to the top of the Matterhorn. The continuing plans to upgrade all five Fantasyland dark rides will also serve as an attraction component of the 60th, while the night parade anchors the entertainment component.

This may not be the news you were hoping for, but considering the circumstances, this is actually pretty good news for Disneyland fans.
