Today we offer a construction tour of Universal Studios Hollywood. The multiple projects going on at this park are literally transforming the face of this once humble little movie studio. Fast and Furious: Supercharged is an attraction being added to the end of the Studio Tour. Will it top the dancing cars on a stick that we had before? Next up we see the progress in the center of the upper lot, as Springfield is constructed in front of The Simpsons Ride. We noticed some hysterical additions to Super Silly Fun Land. Then finally we top things off with a long look at the gargantuan Wizarding World of Harry Potter addition. There’s plenty to see and a lot to visualize. Here we go.
Fast and Furious: Supercharged
On the last leg of the world famous Studio Tour, we stop to look at the show building construction for Fast and Furious: Supercharged. The steel framework is boxing up as the cement foundation and basement are formed.
Springfield
Inside the park, in the center of the Upper Lot area we have Springfield. Situated in front of The Simpsons Ride the two-story facades for a variety of food locations is being constructed. We can’t wait for a Krustyburger.
Despicable Me
If you don’t like the minions you have no soul. Now that we have that out of the way, we see here that the Super Silly Fun Land area outside of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem has enjoyed some wonderful additions. Set dressings mainly. But they offer some humorous photo ops.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Finally, we get to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter construction. The steel framework for what will soon be Hogsmeade is becoming apparent. The oblique rooftops and leaning chimneys can be discerned from their skeletons.
Back to the front of the land, we check out the rooftops that but up against the Springfield facades.
From below in the backlot we get a wider look at how tall the cranes are and how large the project is.
Halloween Horror Nights
Universal Studios Hollywood has been listening to fan feedback. Starting this Wednesday 5/4, Fans will have a chance to pick their own poison by voting for an all new scare zone on the Halloween Horror Night’s Official Facebook Page! The winning zone will be announced on June 19th and then HHN Creative Director, John Murdy, will bring the terrifying scares to life on French Street in the backlot.
That just about wraps up or look at the construction going on at Universal Studios Hollywood. With Fast and Furious Supercharged and Springfield coming in 2015 and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter coming in 2016, there’s plenty to get excited about here.
