DESPICABLE ME: MINION MAYHEM GRAND OPENING
On July 2nd, 2012 Universal Orlando officially opened Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, bringing a great new family attraction to the Universal Orlando Resort!

CITYWALK PROMENADE NEARS COMPLETION
The surprise project the new CityWalk Promenade nears completion as two of the 3 new decks are now completed, with the 3rd under construction.  These new decks during the day are serving fresh fruit, pastries, and drinks, and after 3pm, they offer a full liquor bar, just in time for crowds as they being to exit the park.

SOUNDSTAGE 44 DEMOLITION
Universal Orlando has wasted no time removing the Sound Stage 44 Building.  Just last week, we reported  as demolition began.   The building is now completely leveled, and Universal has been running full dump truck loads out of the park during park hours.  Whatever is going here, they are in a rush to get it built.

  1. Maybe potter is in jaws and transformers is In 44
    Thanks
(or they could put transformers in jaws to go with the world expo)

    • I don’t think Transformers is going to come to Universal Studios Orlando, but maybe Islands of Adventure, when their deal with Marvel is expired and they retheme Super Hero Island as Sci-Fi City like in Universal Studios Singapore. I think their might be other attractions that might befit the space that was stage 44.

Was it really that good of an idea to serve alcohol to guests just as they are about to get in their cars and drive home?

    • It’s CityWalk. The goal is to create an entertainment destination (much in the way that Downtown Disney once was).

One could argue that it is never a good idea to serve anyone alcohol, but it is up to each individual to be responsible for themselves in that regard.

You’ve got to hand it to Universal. They are really leading the way these days with new attractions, shows and entertainment offerings in Orlando.

Disney World has been sitting on its hands for so long (and breaking that record mostly to remove attractions such as Pleasure Island) that it is hard to get excited about WDW these days.

I REALLY hope that WDW can rise to the occasion, but I fear that their current management doesn’t even know what that means any more. Universal smells blood in the water and is REALLY showing that they DO understand how to entertain guests. Let’s hope that Disney comes to its senses before Universal totally smashes them with the Harry Potter expansion.
