Maybe it’s that I’m missing the Food and Wine Fest this year. Maybe it’s that I love a good pie. Or maybe it’s just because it’s mid-afternoon when I write this, and my stomach is starting to grumble, but I’ve got pizza on the brain and have been craving one of my favorite slices from the World. But we’ll get to where that is in a second.

Pizza tends to be an all-around people pleaser, and I know my littles are always happy to sit down for a slice no matter where we are. That being said, there are several different options at Walt Disney World, and they are by no means created equal.

Pizza to Avoid

Since I prefer to end on a positive note, I’ll start us off with some spots that probably aren’t worth your credits or cash. I like room service as much as the next girl, but pizza delivery at the resorts leaves a little to be desired. It’s been grabbed in a pinch, but it would never be my first choice. Additionally, I’d probably pass on most food court pizza, as well. Quick, easy, convenient? Yes. Super tasty? Not so much

I’ll call hypocrite on this one because we end up here a lot, and you’d think a restaurant that specialized in pizza would crank out some good stuff, but it reminds me of cafeteria pizza when I was in school (not horrible but not great, either). Pizza Planet. How I want to love thee, but it’s just not there for me. The kids, however, gobble it up, so the restaurant isn’t a total loss for our family.

Get Pizza Wise: If you’re roaming the Boardwalk, there is a late night option in the walk-up pizza window near the bakery. While deluxe properties often kick things up a notch, the pizza here tends to leave me a bit disappointed. Maybe it’s because I’ve only ever eaten at the end of the night when they’re closing, but my pizza cravings are better served across the lake as you’ll read below.

Flatbread

Have a hankering for pizza but not everyone else is on board? Flatbread is available at several spots around property, but there are a few favorites for our crew. The Beach Club Marketplace inside the gift shop at Disney’s Beach Club turns out consistently yummy flat bread. It’s not super fancy (pepperoni or cheese), but it always hits the spot. Looking for something a little more robust? Head over to Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Despite not being known as a premiere Disney World restaurant or fan favorite, I have to give Mama her props because the grilled chicken flatbread is awesome! California Grill even boasts a couple of flatbread options on their appetizer menu, both of which are top notch.

Best Pizza on Property

While I love a flatbread, my favorite stop for pizza, hands down, is Via Napoli in Epcot’s Italy. The atmosphere is fabulous and the staff is friendly, but the pizza is what stands out. With a large selection, including the option to build your own, there’s a meal here for any pizza connoisseur. Once you’ve chosen your style, the pizza is cooked to perfection in whimsical wood-burning ovens. Trust me, you can’t go wrong here if you’re a pizza lover!

Get Pizza Wise:  Added bonus: These pies are sizable, at at around $30 for a large one, this may be one of the best values for your dining dollar!

Trattoria al Forno, set to open soon (reservations can be made starting October 21) on Disney’s Boardwalk looks to be offering some promising pizza, as well, so keep an eye on this new dining experience.
