We decided to check out the new Four Seasons resort at Walt Disney World recently to see how they handled food allergies.  The resort itself is beautiful with palm trees, plush furnishings, scenic views and the relaxing lazy river.  There are several restaurants to choose from but since we weren’t dressed for a fancy meal, we chose the casual PB&G outdoor location.  Even though it was a Friday night, the place was empty so we had no trouble getting a table.  I mentioned to our hostess that I had food allergies and she assured me they would take good care of us.

The restaurant is located outside over a small lake with open-air seating.  The views of the pool and the hotel were a nice plus, however anyone that lives in Florida can tell you that evenings on the water are the ideal time to attract mosquitoes.  The temperature was kept nice and cool with the many overhead ceiling fans but nothing could keep the biting insects from interrupting our meal several times.

The server approached our table already aware of my allergies and told me that the chef could give me a choice of 4 items that I could have safely.  I chose the grouper sandwich and a side of fries.  The chef never approached our table so I have no idea if they would have modified anything on the menu and I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that the majority of the menu was excluded due to my onion allergy.  The grouper sandwich was just ok.  The fish had a refreshing lemon-pepper seasoning but the meat of the fish was mushy and cold in the middle.  The best part of the meal was dessert.  They offered pecan pie,  key lime pie, carrot cake and a chocolate covered moon pie.  The key lime pie was just the right amount of tart and the pecan pie was just the right amount of sweet.

The Four Seasons is not for the faint of wallet.  Our 2 sandwiches, 2 desserts and 1 iced tea cost over $75 with tip.  Would I return?  Probably not for a meal but definitely for the desserts!

The Four Seasons resort is located in the Golden Oak area of Walt Disney World and is accessible by private vehicle (valet parking available at the resort).

Have you visited the Four Seasons at Walt Disney World? What are your thoughts?
