It’s October, which means Halloween for many theme parks, including SeaWorld. At SeaWorld Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio, they hold an awesome family friendly Halloween event called SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular. SeaWorld San Antonio turns things up an extra notch with Howl-O-Scream. When the clock strikes 7pm, the Spooktacular ends and the Curse begins. Grab your Shamu Trick-or-Treat bag and let’s check out Halloween at the SeaWorld Parks.

SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular

SeaWorld parks have been holding their Spooktacular event this Halloween season as usual, which is great for the whole family.  Included with your daily park admission, or annual pass, this event is a great experience for day guests, and annual pass holders.  Starting at 12pm, this event is great for little kids who perhaps aren’t old enough to stay up for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Guests are encouraged to come to the park dressed up in their favorite Halloween costumes, and take part in the events all over the park which included:

Trick-Or-Treating

All along Bayside Stadium, families can trick-or-treat among cute decorations, pumpkin fish, catfish, dogfish, mermaids and other fantastical undersea creatures.  You will also get your fill of candy at all the trick-or-treat stations along the way.

Howl-O-Scream has been cursed by a song this year.  Those how have heard the song will remain cursed until they survive all 5 Mazes. Erin McKinney from the Unofficial SeaWorld Podcast went to SeaWorld San Antonio, and was able to break the curse.  So we will bring you an overview of the event along with video of the special Halloween Killer Whale Show, Shamu Creep Show.

ICU: Intensive Cursed Unit

This asylum was established to care for those who have been affected by the curse.  While physicians were trying to find a cure, they instead found themselves cursed too.

Prey: Where the Hunter Becomes The Hunted

Outside in the woods of SeaWorld San Antonio guests enter the world of Prey, where through trees, and on dirt paths guests come face to face with something that is now hunting them.

Den of the Departed: Zombie Takeover

The Voodoo queen is back from New Orleans to reclaim her cemetery and is raising the dead.  So you better watch out for zombies.

Frightmare Forest

Also outside in the shadowy woods surrounding this Texas park is filled with corpses, creepers, and things that lurk in shadows. If you have ever been afraid of the dark, or walking alone outside, you will find this maze to be full of what your nightmares are made of.

Sea Oddities Sideshow: Clowns In Control

A circus came to town, and guests now find themselves wandering through this demented maze with clowns, tunnels, strobes and undersea themes.

  • Sideshow Row – The Smiley Face Clown gang is in town, terrorizing guests.
  • Demon Street – The dead have risen and are retracing their funeral procession, and trying to bring guests back to the underworld with them.

Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld San Antonio is a tremendous value, because unlike Halloween events at other parks, it is included with your park admission and your annual pass.

We hope that you survive the Curse!

We now invite you to listen to the latest Unofficial SeaWorld Podcast where we discuss the amazing Project Blue World coming to SeaWorld, Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio. We welcome Cameron to the show who shares some great stories as a former SeaWorld camper. Erin shares with us an amazing conservation story about how SeaWorld has performed a first, articial insemination with penguins.

  • Thank you Eric!

What a great idea for SeaWorld San Antonio. I keep forgetting that SeaWorld and Busch Gardens are the same company. It makes perfect sense for SeaWorld San Antonio to use the Howl-O-Scream idea from Busch Gardens.

As long as the props for Howl-O-Scream aren’t too frightening for the family crowds during the day, I think this is great.

Halloween sure has become a major revenue stream for theme parks. Amazing to watch this develop over my life. Could never have imagined SeaWorld offering a scary haunt. But it sure seems to work.

So when is Sea World San Diego going to have mazes?

    • GDub80

SeaWorld San Diego had mazes about 10 years ago. It was discontinued. They only have Spooktacular right now.

  • FarFromHome

    Thanks for the update!
