More about the unique collectors pieces from the Disney in Stone collection:

Disney in Stone, Classic Disney characters brought to life in stone sculptures. Produced by Artwork Partners and marketed by Sanders Art Studios.

Each piece has stone from different parts of the world. India, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Brazil.

Pietre Dure is a mosaic technique or more specifically a type of stone marquetry that originated in Rome and later reached its zenith in Florence Italy in the 1600 and 1700s. It is sometimes called Florentine Mosaic. Marble and many other types of semi-precious stones are carved and cut into small pieces. These small pieces were fitted together with no visible interstices (joints between the pieces) to make a painting that depicted landscapes or other subjects from the world. The texture of the stone mimics those found in nature: clouds, mountains or leaves and flowers. Pietre Dure also means hard or durable stones.

There are lots of beautiful works in this collection: Small World, Donald Duck, scenes from Fantasia and Mickey Mouse cartoons, all made out of stone. You can find more from the Sanders Art Studio Disney In Stone Collection HERE
