Today we take you to Knotts Berry Farm for the latest news and photos. A brand new family attraction, Voyage to the Iron Reef, is coming along in the Boardwalk area of the park.  Teams of construction professionals and ride designers are racing around the clock to get the attraction ready for the planned May 15th opening.  We next bring news of the return of the delightful Boysenberry Festival on March 28th.  This party of food, entertainment, dancing and the Peanuts Gang is one of the major highlights of the year and we wouldn’t miss it for anything.  Next we share some wonderful photos from around the park as they prepare for the upcoming festival and huge summer season for 2015.  Finally we pay a little tribute to the entertaining Gunslingers that inhabit Ghost Town.  Are you ready for some fun on the farm? Then let’s get to it!

Voyage to the Iron Reef

The new attraction, Voyage to the Iron Reef, is taking shape above the Boardwalk.  We now see that construction is fully visible outside as the walkway and queue are being constructed.  The fate of the lovely 20’s Los Angeles mural in the load/unload area is still undetermined though we hope for the best. Let’s take a look at what is happening.

Boysenberry Festival March 28 – April 12

One of our favorite events at Knott’s is returning!  Last year’s event was called “Knott’s Berry Bloom,” but they tried to tie it into the theme of Ghost Town by putting up “Boysenberry Festival” banners in the park. That created a bit of confusion which they have resolved this year by simply calling the event the “Boysenberry Festival.” Improved and expanded from last year, the springtime festival will begin March 28th and bring an event full of amazing food, wonderful entertainment, and park wide fun.  Truly, there is nothing like the Boysenberry BBQ sauce, slathered on freshly grilled beef skewers.  Or test your tummy with a host of other insanely delicious foods…

  • Deep Fried Alligator Pieces & Fries with Boysenberry Aioli
  • Fried Cheese Curds paired with a Spicy Boysenberry Dipping Sauce
  • Craft Beer and Wine Vendors – Boysenberry wine and Belgium boysenberry beer
  • Boysenberry Trifle (vanilla cake piece, frozen boysenberry, soft serve ice cream, and whipped cream)
  • Boysenberry Frappuccino & Latte
  • Berry Market™ Boysenberry BBQ Sauce smothered on an assortment of other delectable treats (an original Knott’s Berry Farm creation)

While the food is key, it’s not the only thing to enjoy.  Along with the wonderful Peanuts Party in the Park, there will be festival entertainment from sun up to sun down:

  • Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies
  • Daily pie eating contests
  • Dueling Fiddlers
  • Dueling Banjos
  • Peanuts Party in the Park
  • Jammin’ in the Dark (nighttime dance party)
  • Salsa dancing

We took a walk through the park to see if there were any visible decorations being installed for the big festival.  While nothing was out just yet, we saw a park beautifully clean and spiffed up, ready for the inevitable barrage of Boysenberry decor.

Gunslingers

To round things out, we have to give major props to the entertainment department for the entertaining gunslingers of ghost town.  Always drawing a crowd, this group of goofy, gun-toting outlaws always entertains with their silly skits and antics.

This is old-school Knott’s charm at its best

That wraps things up for us at Knott’s Berry Farm for this trip. We are super excited for the upcoming Boysenberry Festival and can’t wait to sink our teeth into the tasty vittles being cooked up by the the chefs at the farm. In the Parks will be back this Monday to cover for Andy Castro’s Dateline Disneyland.
