Today, In the Parks steps in for Andy Castro and Dateline Disneyalnd. It’s business as usual at the Disneyland Resort. Prices are up, rides are being refurbished, and the marketing team is mounting a summer season fueled by nostalgia and the re-invigoration of beloved classics. We start our update on the florid streets of Main Street U.S.A. as spring comes to life in a riot of blossoms and a wide array of colors. We take a look at the progress of the upcoming Disneyland 60th Anniversary exhibit in Innoventions, and we prove that there is dirt in space. Next we see signs of the slow retreat of Frozen, and we journey by Critter Country to check up on the progress in the land under refurb. Finally, we take a look at Grizzly Peak Airfield, get a glimpse of the almost open Smokejumper’s Grill, and look in on the various touch up projects happening at Disney California Adventure.
Disneyland never fails to dazzle in the horticulture department. Perfect and pristine, the flowerbeds and landscaping are simply some of the very best that you will ever see at any theme park. Main Street U.S.A. is bursting with blossoms from Town Square all the way to Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Looking down Main Street, we see the Walt and Mickey Statue in the hub flanked by pansies in hanging baskets.
Space Dirt
The recent Santa Ana winds have kicked up more than a little dust, caking Space Mountain’s dome with dirt. Let’s hope that they address the cleaning soon as they have the equipment to do so already installed and ready to go, right?
Innoventions
Still no sign of progress in Innoventions on the rumored 60th Anniversary exhibit.
Matterhorn
The Matterhorn Bobsleds are closed for refurbishment through May 16. Rumored are additions to show scenes and an upgraded Yeti.
Olaf No More
The removal of the Frozen Meet and Greet from Fantasyland is complete and there is little left of the frigid sisters save for the blue and white trim work. The problem is the disrepair that Olaf’s snow patch left on the existing roof.
Critter Country
All of Critter country, including Splash Mountain, The Many Adventures of Whinnie the Pooh, and the Hungry Bear Restaurant, are currently under refurbishment and will reopen on April 3rd.

We pop in to Disney California Adventure and see that things are equally walled off as the park prepares for the huge summer crowds.
Grizzly Peak Airfield
It looks like they are really doing this up right from what we can see. The old Condor Flats area is being transformed into a national park airfield.
Grizzly River Run
Grizzly River Run is enjoying a refurb as new plantings are made throughout the ride. It doesn’t appear that much else is being done here. The ride is scheduled to reopen on March 20th.
Paradise Primping
Finally, we close with a bit of work being done to the entry of Paradise Pier.
That wraps things up for this Disneyland update. There is plenty happening and a lot more to look forward to when the park kicks into high gear for Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary. Dateline Disneyland will return next week. We will see you again soon!
