Knotts Berry Farm is in the thick of Spring Break and in the middle of the amazing Boysenberry Festival. The park is busy, which is actually a wonderful thing see. The better they do, the more new things we’ll see at the park in the future. The streets of Ghost Town bustle with activity as guests dart around, enjoying the food, the entertainment, and the attractions. Today we share a bit more on the Boysenberry Festival. We’ll also dive into the latest news from Voyage to the Iron Reef. Finally, we cover the latest progress from Knotts Boardwalk and the activity going on there. Let’s go to the Farm . . .
Boysenberry Festival
Knott’s Berry Farm is once again celebrating the Boysenberry Festival March 28 – April 12 this year, encompassing Spring and Easter celebrations as well as the annual celebration of the little berry that started it all.
The food is the biggest draw during the festival and features some of the most unbelievable concoctions ever developed around the little berry that could.
Then of course there’s the FunBun. It’s a cinnamon roll, dipped in funnel cake batter and deep fried. Then it’s topped with Boysenberry cream cheese frosting. AMAZING.
Around Ghost Town there are wonderful decorations and sets playing on the berry theme.
Crafts are available for sale too.
There is constant entertainment in Birdcage Square too.
Last but not least, the Beary Tales Pie Kitchen is open and kids of all ages can enjoy the wonderful Beary Tales characters.
The crazy pie kitchen is filled with interactive gags.
Peanuts Party in the Park is back this year. The show, presented at Charleston Circle in Boardwalk is still a peppy, entertaining little show to be sure. However, something is missing. The energy of the performers is high and the musical selections are great for a festive show of this kind. The problem lies in the anemic staging. In years past we were treated to push cart picnic baskets and large confetti effects. This year the sets and scale seem to have been pulled back. Sadly, pinwheels and balloons do not a set piece make. The energetic performers do their very best to amp the crowd up but the show never seems to take off. Still a great show, it just needs a little something more to really push it over the edge as in years past.
Voyage to the Iron Reef
A considerable amount of progress has been made at Voyage to the Iron Reef. We are excited to report that the upstairs, outdoor queue is receiving a lovely new canopy. Just beyond, you can see the sets popping up at the boarding area. SO exciting!
Boardwalk
While Voyage to the Iron Reef is under construction, we see that the lagoon refurbishment at the Boardwalk is coming along too.
If you have never been to the Boysenberry Festival you need to stop what you are doing and go now. It is an amazing gastronomical delight that you will remember for years to come. That being said, with such a low price and with a new ride coming, a season pass to the farm might be a worthwhile investment. Go and check out the Boysenberry Festival now, come back to the park when it’s less crowded.
Until next time, we’ll see you In The Parks.
