Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are the topic of In The Parks today. As Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle has gems and diamonds heaped upon it we see other parts of the park moving along on their refurbishment schedules. Disney has finally confirmed the MiceAge rumors and has released new promotional artwork teasing some of the improvements coming to the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Peter Pan’s Flight. We also jump aboard Splash Mountain to see what, if anything, was done during the refurbishment. There is good news and bad at this popular attraction. We also stroll through the Springtime Round Up before it closes this weekend., get there soon to check out this delightful seasonal festival! Finally, we round things out with a look at the Grizzly Peak Airfield. It looks promising folks. Oh and there’s great news about Frozen Fun!
Don’t miss the 2015 Micechat Gumball Rally, rolling your way on May 2nd. The Gumball Rally is a competition to see who can ride the most attractions at Disneyland in a single day. It’s the most fun you’ll have in the parks all year. For TICKETS and Information click HERE now.
Sleeping Beauty Castle Bling
The centerpiece of the park is becoming one gigantic jewel for the 60th Anniversary celebration. But have they gone too far with all the decoration? What started off shiny and fun looks a bit cluttered now, with more and more added every day.
Fantasyland Refurbs
Matterhorn Bobsleds
The Matterhorn Bobsleds enjoyed a bit of publicity from the Disney Parks Blog this week. Announcing a May 16th reopening date, the site released an official image previewing the look of the new Abominable Snowman figure.
Meanwhile, outside the attraction, the same old “new” bobsleds are getting a spit and polish. It’s hard to tell from the photos if the seats have been given some much needed padding.
Peter Pan
Another bit of art was released for the refurbished and updated Peter Pan’s Flight. Boasting a “Re-imagined” nursery scene. These are just some of the many surprises coming to some of your favorite attractions for the 60th anniversary.
Façades
Also under refurbishment are the façades from Pinocchio’s Daring Journey to Village Haus. Both are open during construction.
Splash Mountain Returns
There’s good news and bad news to share from Splash Mountain. Let’s start off with the bad. It appears that virtually none of the exteriors of this whimsical attraction were touched during the long refurbishment. Add to that the fact that the logs look just as scuffed and worn as when the attraction went down.
Once inside the show building, however, things abruptly change. The lighting pops, the sound sparkles and every single animatronic was operating during our ride-through.
Innoventions
Innoventions is once again behind construction walls as a rumored 60th anniversary exhibit is installed.
Springtime Round Up
This is the last weekend to catch the charming Springtime Round up at Big Thunder Ranch.
Checking in over at Disney California Adventure, things are looking great even though the spring break crowds continue to roll in.
Grizzly Peak Airfield
Outside the gates we can see paint tests on Soarin’ Over California.
Inside the park, from Buena Vista Circle, we catch more of the rock work near the entrance to the new area.
Form the Monorail we can see that the new Grizzly Peak Airfield will be heavily planted with lots of shade.
It’s Tough to be a Bug
The 3D show, It’s Tough to be a Bug, has returned after Cinderella finished a preview run.
Beauty Shots
The park looks great as spring blossoms burst in Paradise Pier.
Frozen Fun Ends Soon
We end today’s update on a high note! Frozen Fun is planning to close on May 15th. It is expected that Muppet Vision 3D will return.
That wraps things up for In The Parks from the Disneyland resort this week. Please be sure to share your comments below. Are you glad to see Frozen finally thaw, or will you miss certain elements? What about the exterior condition of Splash Mountain? Is it acceptable for an attraction to return from a long refurbishment looking so shabby? Would you like to see padding added to the Matterhorn Bobsleds? And, of course, we want to hear your thoughts about the elaborate decorations on the Castle.
