Cancer Patients Hosted by Disneyland Paris VoluntEARS
by Max Fan, DLPWelcome
On March 29th, Disney VoluntEARS welcomed the children and families of Everyone Sings Against Cancer. It was an unforgettable day as Disney volunteers hosted more than 100 children and their families, treating them as VIPs at the attractions and restaurants of Disneyland Paris.
In addition to being the guests of honor at Disneyland Paris, the children could meet the Finalists of The Voice (France) and the show’s host, Karine Ferri. Some of the guests were treated to a private concert at the Lucky Nugget Saloon.
The day’s activities continued a ten year relationship with Everyone Sings Against Cancer. Team Action Citizens of Disneyland Paris and its Disney VoluntEARS act as guardian angels of the association to support them in their mission: “to improve the lives of patients and their families”.
In the following video, the VoluntEARS talk about this momentous day (English subtitles).
Disney VoluntEARS host almost 1,000 events per year. Last year, over 15,000 children and families were hosted by 1,123 volunteers. The logistics of this Disney effort are enormous! For each event, announcements are made on the park’s internal website, where the Disney employees can register to help.
All volunteer hours are accounted for and converted into a dollar value which is then donated by Disney to each charity to help sustain their program.
We were glad that we accepted an invitation to experience this wonderful day at the park. We shared moments of joy and good humor that lightened the burden of the daily lives of these children.
Last but not least, here is a video of the private concert given by the finalists of The Voice (France) to the children and families of Everyone Sings Against Cancer.
This day was unforgettable, and we congratulate all the Disney VoluntEARS and stakeholders for making this day a magic moment for the invited children and their families. It was a day that was engraved into our memory. Thank you to the Disney VoluntEARS for their commitment to these associations.
