The carpenter knocked on my door yesterday to talk about the front staircase that will go up to the attic. He wanted to go into the tenant's apartment, but she wasn't home. I didn't want to go in because Diana wasn't home, and I can't control her cats. If they snuck out, well I didn't want to take the chance. I showed him my bedroom instead, since it's exactly the same. The stairwell will cut into the wall and ceiling of her larger bedroom, and he needs to see exactly how they will have to do it.
Well when I told Diana, she freaked. After a lot of conversation, I calmed her down. I said that although she loses mostly headroom, he would build her a closet in that corner of the room she will be losing. She finally got used to the idea. I told her that she needs to stay home today, and we can clean out that space so the workers can work. Better we move stuff around than them, because quite frankly construction workers are not too considerate. They try, but they fail.
I wasn't quite sure how the stairs were going to be built up to the attic, so when I had the conversation with the carpenter, it definitely was a, "say what?" moment.
