It is about to rain here in Chicago, and I am about to have a lot of wet lumber laying on my property. The carpenter has piled it up in two separate places, and it isn't even covered up. There's also a mess of debri on my lawn. I asked about that and of course he said he will clean it up when the job is done.
The stairs were coming along nicely, and then the carpenter stopped working. It seems he needs the electrician to come in and do something before he can proceed. That was
Well work began yesterday again on my stairs, after the carpenter and the architect had a brief discussion. Better to understand the city codes, than doing something wrong, and then good work needs to be redone.
Today, I spoke to the carpenter. I found out he is a family man with wife and kids who needs to begin working a little later in the morning so he can take care of family chaueffering duties before work.
I so understand that.
It's good to see
For those of us that believe in a higher power than ourselves, some also believe that everything in life is put there so that we can learn something.
I keep wondering what this whole attic fiasco is supposed to be teaching me.
I am naming my attic remodel: Project Murphy.
The carpenter showed up at my house bright and early this morning, and work was proceeding very nicely. A few walls come down, sawdust is flying, and I'm happy just to see the activity and hear the noise.
Then my husband announces to me after 4 hours of work that they are cleaning up. The doorbell rings, and I get the bad news.
Someone didn't measure things quite right, and due to city code about headroom,
Cross your fingers for me, my contractor called me today, and work is scheduled to begin on my stairs on Saturday. I know I have been so negative, but I must believe at some point in time that this really is going to happen. When I mentioned a few things to my husband tonite about what the contractor said on the phone tonite, my husband made a few snide remarks. I told him that I would refrain from telling him anything from now on.
