Yesterday they finished the roof on my brand new attic dormer. It's hard to believe they can complete a dormer in just a few days. The workers left last night at 7 p.m., and this morning we woke up to find it snowing in Chicago. I would say that was definitely good planning, or a struck of good luck.

I guess no matter how well you plan, you always have some added costs in a big home improvement project. Mine is no different. I had to write the contractor a check today for additional money to level the attic floor. As I was writing the check, I looked at the calendar, and realized that it is St. Patrick's day.

Well the workers arrived at just about 8:30 a.m. this morning. Since the contractor said between 8 and 9 in the morning, they get a 10 for being right on time.

I need to get to bed early tonite. The contractor is coming tomorrow with a work crew at 8 a.m. Now I start grading the company that I hired. I'm not sure exactly what is going to get done first, but I am assuming the attic needs to be dormed out first. I have never ever hired a contractor before for anything, so this should be very interesting.

I haven't heard word one from my contractor since Tuesday. He said he was going to get back to me on Wednesday, but he didn't. I came down with a cold, so I'm kind of glad that I got to rest up a bit before he finally gets over here and starts the work.

I do get aggravated when people say they are going to do something and they don't, but he's running the show and I'm not the nagging type.
