I didn't see this in the theaters because I'm not a big fan of the talking dog movies (Unless that dog is named Scooby Doo). I mean I cringe when I watch a trailer for Rats from Beverly Hills or Snow Pals go to the Mall or wherever they are going this time. But for every adult comedy like The Changeup 2011 8 out of 10 or The Hangover 2 8 out of 10 that makes it into the Netflix Queue ----goes one for the kids. This weeks kiddio movie was Marmaduke. The story itself was pretty uninspired. Not much going on with the plot of any real consequence but I still found myself laughing along with the kids as a result of Owen Wilson as the voice of Marmaduke. Owen Wilson was perfect as the voice of this over sized dog. His dialogue fit just right. In fact I can't imagine any other voice for this dog after how well his voice fit the character for me. The story follows Marmaduke adjusting and trying to fit in when his family moves to the O.C. Through a series of events Marmaduke eventually finds what he should have known all along about who he was and how he is loved and belongs as a part of his family. Despite the average nature of the movies plot I think Marmaduke is worth a romp in the dog park for Owen Wilson voice over work alone.
