Even with all of the World of Color commotion, things haven't slowed down elsewhere around the Resort. Construction continues on other California Adventure projects including the upcoming Little Mermaid and Cars Land attractions. Meanwhile, the remodeling of the Wonder Tower of the Disneyland Hotel has begun, and Ridemakerz prepares for its grand re-opening in Downtown Disney.

Thanks again to Matt "2DieFR" Gottula, Mac Daddy, and Macro for their help with today's update.

There's still more to see in today's update. Let's continue...

A look at California Adventure's ongoing $1 billion remodel and expansion...

Disneyland's First Aid building is getting some TLC. It's still open during its refurbishment

DisneyParks-branded merchandise looks like it's trying to make a comeback. Didn't they learn the first time?

And Jeff Kurtti's great new Disneyland Through the Decades book is on store shelves throughout the Resort in a standard and deluxe edition. The standard hardcover edition runs about $25. The deluxe boxed edition is signed by Imagineer Marty Sklar and comes with a reproduction of the opening-day edition of the Disneyland News newspaper and some attraction poster postcards.

You can order the standard edition on Amazon if you can't make it to the parks:

Ridemakerz in Downtown Disney has received new signage as it approaches its grand re-opening on Wednesday.

And work has begun on remodeling the Wonder Tower of the Disneyland Hotel.

And we'll finish this massive photo update with a couple photos from around the parks...

As the media swarmed the Resort on Friday for the World of Color debut and "What's Next?" presentation, Disney hotel workers walked off the job in protest, prompting Disney to bring in replacements:

Disney workers declare one-day strike
Disney hotel workers declared a one-day strike after walking off their jobs Friday morning to protest a more-than-two-year contract dispute with the company.

Disney decided to replace the workers with other Disney employees for the day after the protesting employees stayed out of work for a couple of hours. Hotel employees started leaving their jobs about 8 a.m., but Disney wanted them back by 9:30 a.m.

About 11:30 a.m., a Disney official told union leaders that employees would be forbidden from returning to work.

“They can call it what they want,” said Suzi Brown, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman. “We have to keep our business running so we brought in our trained cast members (employees) to fill in.”

Tom Walsh, the union president, told employees that the union was declaring a one-day strike. Union officials planned to tell more employees, who were scheduled to work later Friday, to stay way.

“Today, we sent a very, very strong message to Disney,” Walsh said. “We told them enough is enough.”

About 200 union members and supporters from three hotels picketed outside the Grand Californian and Paradise Pier hotels. They also crossed Disneyland Drive, briefly blocking traffic.

Disney and the 2,100 hotel employees are locked in a contract fight. The workers, organized under the Unite Here Local 11 union, have organized regular protests, including a hunger strike and walkouts.

On Friday, workers who took to the streets said they were protesting Disney’s firing of a 23-year employee who also serves as a top leader in the union. The workers said it was unjustified.

“This is really just another publicity stunt,” Brown said.

Dare I say that this is probably the best update I've seen? Great work.

One question on Little Mermaid - I'm unclear from the pictures at Blue Sky of what the center of the exterior building is (the big rounded part, which I guess is the entrance) - it almost looks like a reflection of something - or maybe its a 3D interpretation of what the entrance will look like (with rock-work, etc.) Is it a giant window?

UGGGGG!!!! Not more "Disney Parks" CRAP!!! with the generic castle top with clouds. Clouds must be a curse on disneyland, it didn't work as part of the Parade of Stars Parade, it didn't work in the Year(s) of a Million(s) Dreams cloud cover crap, nore did it work on the first round of failed YoaMD decorations, it didn't work as you pointed out in the 1st "Disney Parks" crappy merchandise (of which much of it made it's way to the discount center in record time!) Why do the manketing manager IDIOTS NOT REALIZE that DL guests WANT DL SPECIFIC MERCHADISE !
