Happy Halloween! Welcome to the October 31, 2008 edition of Dateline Disneyland. I'd like to start off this week by thanking our two contributors this week: fellow MiceAge columnist David "Darkbeer" Michael and MiceChatter Abominable Snowman. Luckily for us, these two were able to help out and make this week's update possible.

Remember that you can click on any of the photos with the special Project Tracker watermarks to be taken to their park's respective Project Tracker thread in the MiceChat forums.

And don't forget to follow us on Twitter now where you'll get updates from Dateline Disneyland, the Disneyland and DCA Project Trackers, and other Disneyland Resort news and info. Twitter.com/DatelineDisney

Let's get to the update, shall we?

WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
The main gate ticket booths are getting some TLC.

Inside the park, the Plaza Pavillion is finally out from behind its tarps. The building got new roofing, and it looks nice.

OPEN HOLLOW
Tinker Bell and her friends are now officially welcoming guests into their Pixie home.

The pond area which used to feature a King Triton sculpture now features a bubbling fountain.

The new meet-and-greet has been drawing stand-by times of over an hour and a half.

The area is so completely changed that you'd never knew the Little Mermaid once called the area home at Disneyland.

The entire area is very nicely themed, and if Disney is dedicating this much time and money to a little meet-and-greet, then one can only imagine the effort and resources going towards more substantial efforts around the Resort. Exciting!

Handicapped guests enter through the exit.

Of course, you can get your Pixie Hollow souvenirs at the exit...

CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER
Every year New Orleans Square tends to be the first area to get the holiday treatment, but it never fails to come off as way too early. But with Targets and Wal-Marts swapping out their Halloween displays for Christmas set-ups, Disneyland isn't the only one celebrating the winter holidays too soon.

A WORLD OF TOYS
The "It's a Small World" Toy Shop has re-opened.

And now the nearby Fantasy Faire toy stand is closed for refurbishment.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3
The new High School Musical 3 street show has opened at Disney's California Adventure. The show utilizes the same moving stage as the other two High School Musical shows, but features new music, new choreography, and some guest interaction as well.

BOARDWALK CHANGES
Over on Paradise Pier, scaffolding is going up around the Sun Wheel as it goes under the cutting knife for its facelift.

And the Games of the Boardwalk are now closed as they get transformed into classic Disney-inspired games.

And nearby, Burger Invasion is no longer covered in tarps.

Not much has changed...

AROUND THE PARK
And finally, some shots from around Disneyland.

And a last look at HalloweenTime...

Alright, that should do it for this week. Thanks once again to David "Darkbeer" Michael and Abominable Snowman for their outstanding shots. You can view more of David's photos in his smugmug galleries: darkbeer.smugmug.com. You can also view more of Abominable Snowman's great shots in his most recent Disneyland trip report on MiceChat: Actualización de Foto! 10/27/08.

And thanks, as always, to you for reading. Feel free to comment and discuss below.

See you here again next week!
-Andy

Now that they've added a spa right next to Disneyland's hub, it is truly the "Disneyland Resort"!

The main gate ticket booths are getting some TLC.
I was there yesterday and noticed some things in dire need of some TLC. Goadget's Go Coaser looks so bad they should just shutter it until they can thoroughly clean and repaint the area or they can install something relevant. The line areas of BLAB and Space Mountain look awful. In BLAB there was a couple of good size areas missing paint and the floor is filthy. Same thing with Space Mountain. The Pooh bear ride is filthy inside as well and Star Tours is a rattle trap. I thought the doors may come off of our vehicle. Mr. Toad's was a little dirty too. Walking through TL, I commented to my wife; "through the magic of Disney, they were able to make brand new pavement look like it has been here for years". Then we started pointing out the magical spill stains and the magical gum marks. I do have to say that Pixie Hollow was really neat and according to my daughter it was worth the hour and 15 minutes.

I noticed the same thing! I was trying to point out the new pavement to some friends, and I could barely tell the difference! It ages so fast! Great update as always!

Great update. Why does it matter if the paint is a little old or the pavement hasn't been redone. It's not like it isn't safe, because they wouldn't leave something undone if it wasn't safe. Plus, it's just paint!!

Agreed, pavement in TL already looks so horrible. They should have left it or found something that wouldn't show so many stains.
