Happy Halloween! Welcome to the October 31, 2008 edition of Dateline Disneyland. I'd like to start off this week by thanking our two contributors this week: fellow MiceAge columnist David "Darkbeer" Michael and MiceChatter Abominable Snowman. Luckily for us, these two were able to help out and make this week's update possible.
Remember that you can click on any of the photos with the special Project Tracker watermarks to be taken to their park's respective Project Tracker thread in the MiceChat forums.
And don't forget to follow us on Twitter now where you'll get updates from Dateline Disneyland, the Disneyland and DCA Project Trackers, and other Disneyland Resort news and info. Twitter.com/DatelineDisney
Let's get to the update, shall we?
WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
The main gate ticket booths are getting some TLC.
Inside the park, the Plaza Pavillion is finally out from behind its tarps. The building got new roofing, and it looks nice.
Tinker Bell and her friends are now officially welcoming guests into their Pixie home.
The pond area which used to feature a King Triton sculpture now features a bubbling fountain.
The new meet-and-greet has been drawing stand-by times of over an hour and a half.
The area is so completely changed that you'd never knew the Little Mermaid once called the area home at Disneyland.
The entire area is very nicely themed, and if Disney is dedicating this much time and money to a little meet-and-greet, then one can only imagine the effort and resources going towards more substantial efforts around the Resort. Exciting!
Handicapped guests enter through the exit.
Of course, you can get your Pixie Hollow souvenirs at the exit...
CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER
Every year New Orleans Square tends to be the first area to get the holiday treatment, but it never fails to come off as way too early. But with Targets and Wal-Marts swapping out their Halloween displays for Christmas set-ups, Disneyland isn't the only one celebrating the winter holidays too soon.
A WORLD OF TOYS
The "It's a Small World" Toy Shop has re-opened.
And now the nearby Fantasy Faire toy stand is closed for refurbishment.
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3
The new High School Musical 3 street show has opened at Disney's California Adventure. The show utilizes the same moving stage as the other two High School Musical shows, but features new music, new choreography, and some guest interaction as well.
Over on Paradise Pier, scaffolding is going up around the Sun Wheel as it goes under the cutting knife for its facelift.
And the Games of the Boardwalk are now closed as they get transformed into classic Disney-inspired games.
And nearby, Burger Invasion is no longer covered in tarps.
Not much has changed...
AROUND THE PARK
And finally, some shots from around Disneyland.
And a last look at HalloweenTime...
Alright, that should do it for this week. Thanks once again to David "Darkbeer" Michael and Abominable Snowman for their outstanding shots. You can view more of David's photos in his smugmug galleries: darkbeer.smugmug.com. You can also view more of Abominable Snowman's great shots in his most recent Disneyland trip report on MiceChat: Actualización de Foto! 10/27/08.
And thanks, as always, to you for reading. Feel free to comment and discuss below.
See you here again next week!
