The big news this weekend was the opening of the new Paradise Park area at Disney's California Adventure park. The new Victorian-style 1920s public park-themed plaza will be able to accommodate 9,000 guests for the upcoming World of Color nighttime water show, and will offer an interactive play fountain and and a new multi-purpose state for performances during the day. Elsewhere in the park, the first section of steel framework has gone up for the new Little Mermaid dark ride, and Cars Land construction

Spring break crowds got a little shook up on Easter Sunday when a 7.2 earthquake hit Mexicali and sent shockwaves throughout Southern California. Disneyland Resort theme park attractions went down for inspection immediately following the quake, but reopened shortly after. Twitter users reported guests were leaving in droves after the earthquake, despite the parks remaining open. Despite spring break crowds, construction crews are working overtime at the Disneyland Resort theme parks. A new keelboat has been docked near the Settler's Cabin in the Rivers of America serving as new riverside scenery and as a nod to the river's past. Over at California Adventure, as crews work to finish the new Paradise Park area, the first section of steel framework has gone up in Cars Land. It's been a busy week at the Disneyland Resort. Construction continues at Disney's California Adventure on an array of new shows and attractions, including Disney's World of Color which undergoes after-hours testing quite often these days.
