Refurbishments and minor construction projects continue to pop up and make progress around Disneyland as the park gets ready for the start of the Halloween Time season Friday. The park-wide work and changes include the addition of safety-minded handrails throughout the Golden Horseshoe, to the detriment of the saloon's show quality. Over in New Orleans Square, work continues on installing the Haunted Mansion Holiday seasonal overlay as Pirates of the Caribbean closes for a two-month refurbishment.

Guests passing through the front half of Disney California Adventure park may feel like they're walking through an endless maze of construction walls with new detours in place to accommodate the major Buena Vista Street construction that will continue into next summer. Disney California Adventure begins construction on its new Buena Vista Street complex this week, shutting down the park's main entrance plaza in the process. The closure is needed so major construction can get underway on the re-theming and alterations that will transform the former Sunshine Plaza into the new 1920s Los Angeles cityscape. Disney is gearing up for its second D23 Expo which will invade the Anaheim Convention Center next to Disneyland this weekend. The 2011 Expo will bring together all of the major divisions of the Walt Disney Company under one roof for what Disney promises will be "the ultimate fan event" with pavilions and presentations on the latest projects ranging from theme parks to the movie studio. Construction and deconstruction at Disney California Adventure continued over the week with new progress in the park's main entrance plaza. The California Zephyr began being removed to make way for the new 1920s-era Los Angeles storefronts that will make up the park's new Buena Vista Street area. As part of the area's major overhaul, the authentic Zephyr's train engine has been donated to a California railroading museum and work is now underway on dismantling the remaining storefronts.
