What a week! Last Monday Disney announced its new "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" theme park marketing campaign for 2010. The new campaign is led by the Muppets and will give free tickets to Disney theme parks for 1 million guests in exchange for a day of community service. Meanwhile, in the parks, Disneyland has opened the doors to the new home of the Disney Gallery and the newly re-worked lobby of the Main Street Opera House. It's been a slow Disney news week after Disney's big D23 Expo blew through town. But that hasn't stopped the constant buzz of activity at the Disneyland Resort. Work continues over at Disney's California Adventure as crews work tirelessly on the park's $1 billion remodel and expansion. New equipment towers have been installed in Paradise Bay for the upcoming World of Color water-and-fire show, and digging and prep work on the space for Cars Land and the upcoming Little Mermaid dark ride is progressing.

Disneyland's Summer Nightastic! is officially history now, as the Resort gears up for it's annual Disney's HalloweenTime promotion that kicks off at the end of September. Meanwhile, the three weeks between summer and HalloweenTime is enough time to get two classic Fantasyland attractions in for refurbishment, build a new permanent vending structure near the Matterhorn, and put the finishing touches on the new Disney Vacation Club units at the Grand Californian Hotel. Welcome to the August 17th edition of Dateline Disneyland! As crowds of un-blocked Annual Passholders pour back into the parks this week, we'll be checking in on the on-going construction in Disney's California Adventure park, as well as work on a new stroller rental shop in the Main Entrance Plaza, and other odds-and-ends around Disneyland and in Downtown Disney.

Welcome back for the July 27 edition of Dateline Disneyland.
