Well, hope everyone had a great Super Bowl weekend. In case you are looking for something to do today, Eli Manning of the New York Giants was picked as the "I'm Going to Disneyland" commercial NFL athlete, and will be in a Noon Cavalcade going down Main Street with a Tustin Pop Warner team at Disneyland.
Do you want another chance to win a "Dream"?
I have been advising folks on how to enter the current "in-park" Disney Dreams Giveaway by mail since late 2006, so you can win without entering the parks.
The full step-by-step directions for the 2008 version can be found here.
But now, you can enter online without the need for postage. Please note, this is a SEPERATE contest, but you can enter once per day, per person, for the month of February. (Registration is required)
The odds are a MUCH better if you use the Postcard method above, as there are a lot more prizes in the main contest as compared to this new online contest.
But for those who want to be lazy, and just click, this secondary contest is easy to enter.
Disney's California Food and Wine Festival to return in 2008
In 2008, it will be held over 4 weekends from April 11th through May 5th. Not many changes as compared to 2007. Tickets for some of the special events will go on sale starting February 15th.
New Mickey and Minnie Costumes from February 5th through the 29th.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be offering Photo Ops on Main Street in new Asian inspired outfits for the Lunar New Year. This outfit will only be seen in the Town Square area of Main Street for the normal Meet and Greets. They will have the traditional outfits on at other times, including the Parade of Dreams.
More information, and photos, can be found in Brady MacDonald's recent article at the LA Times.
Magic Mountain's "X2" to add Special Effect Tunnels
Brady MacDonald over at the LA Times is also reporting that as part of the $10 million make over of the "X" roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain, that they will be adding some canvas tarps over portions of the track.
They are hoping for a Memorial Day Weekend opening of the overhauled attraction.
Some prototype images can be found at the link below.
A Quick Look at the Disneyland Resort from this weekend

The Pirates Image contest winner is up in the Pirates queue
Is it the Ducks imitating the Sea Gulls, or the Sea Gulls imitating the Ducks? Also note, only two Sea Gulls are out on the Buoy, one is on "vacation".
Work is progressing on the Grand Californian Hotel and DVC expansion.
Monsters, Inc. over at DCA is in its final stages for the current refurb, which is basically a safety upgrade of Air Gates at the loading station, along with new sensors on the ride vehicles, along with the standard maintenance.
California Pizza Kitchen at the Anaheim GardenWalk is now open, making three restaurants open (Bubba Gump's and The Cheesecake Factory being the other two). The remaining three main restaurants are still a few weeks away from opening (Roy's, M&S Grill and P.F. Chang's).
And to end the column....
Friday, February 8th will be the 7th Anniversary of Disney's California Adventure Park (or is it the California Regional Adventure Park ?
Since 2003, Disney has officially ignored the date (though I have a Disney PR Calendar I got in the mail that does mention all the different park opening dates, including DCA). As I understand it, once again, it will be just a typical day at DCA...
But the GOOD news, Toy Story Mania! should have its official opening sometime during the second week of June, 2008 (10th through the 13th), and then in the fall of 2008, more areas of DCA will close for upgrading.
After that, we should start to see the bulldozers and the beginning of major changes in the park in the fall of 2008.
