15 years of journaling

I just realized that next week marks my 15th anniversary of keeping a journal. I totally remember why I started it too.

I was watching the Roseanne episode where it's her b-day and they give her the basement as an office. In that episode she talks about how she used to keep a journal when she was younger, but life got in the way and she stopped.

That's when I decided hey, I don't want my life experiences to just vanish into the ether of my mind. Ever since then (although it's certainly not a daily occurance, maybe 4ish times a month) I write down my feelings, what's going on in the world, what I did etc., for posterity sake.

It's hysterical to go back and read stuff. Sometimes it's even a little sad. But overall I think it's one of the smartest things I've ever done. Maybe when I'm gone, reading my entries will help family members understand me a little better.

Not that sounds like some reading material that I could get into.

Congrats for sticking with it for so long, it would be pretty neat to see what was such a big deal to you 15 years ago now is not or vice-versa.

Matt, I had no idea that you did this, let alone for 15 years! That's so cool. It's one of those things I always think I should do, but then I never actually do it.
